I know you will called me crazy, but I judge this movie so bad because I really wanted to see Disney making movies based on my Indonesian culture. But, after I watched the movie and watch this video, I've changed my mind. This movie is actually what I'm hoping for because of something that my own family couldn't give me: trust. I have trust issues sooooo bad (until now, actually, and it caused my mental health in limbo. I had personality disorders because of that, and I ended up watch this movie with no energy whatsoever. Somehow, this movie heals my soul and my trust issues indirectly. Also, this would be crazy (again) for some people. I'm actually a psychic medium and some of my guides are actually Asian dragons. When they listen the soundtrack, they love it so much and everytime I meditate to asked them to protect me. they just come with a big smile listening that because they want me to trust them. I think I should thank Disney for this movie

Sorry, the voice acting thing -
To me, recording from home is a normal thing. That's how my audioplays have been made. It's wierd to me that it's wierd to them, but it explains some of the sound quality. Not bashing, just glad to have an answer haha.
Nothing wrong with recording from home, that's how people are getting their practice in nowadays before, if they do, they get into professionalism.
Every time I get talked to about my audioplays and they say they're interested, they ALWAYS say But I can't travel over there/I don't have access to a sound studio and I'm just like Mate if your phone mic is not buzzy or staticy and it's fine, because I use my IPad, then cool! Do it in your wardrobe! I'm not expecting Blue Yeti 25166352 whatever mics! Just please don't whisper your audition like your mother's asleep in the next room.

In this content I felt a little bet sad bcuz SEA is stand for South east asia and Philippines is part of it but overall the way she tells behind the movie. The movie is not really introducing the Philippines culture only martial arts. I thought its for all South east asia. They only focus on the otherside of the country. I mean we also have culture and tradition same to them and we also have a female warrior before. But the way she narrate and the movie's inspirations felt like Philippines is not there. Only martial arts. We also have that kind of tribes and traditional dress especially in Visayan and Mindanao. So sad to know this

When i heard that raya have a mix culture of asian, i know there will be a drama in the internet. and that's true. As a sotheast asian, raya is like the only disney animation that i'm so bored to read the comment section. Stop saying that this one is from mine not you, nah it's must be mine, im the main culture blablablabla. Asian netizens always do that so im not surprise about the comment section. but sometimes it too boring. I hope that disney will never mix all the culture in one animation again.

Coming from Southeast Asia, I disagreed with the ideas this video presented. The dragon looked more as an east asian dragon merged with a rhino, made by American toy manufacturer. Instead, the so-called cultural inspirations are more of tourist spending one day. It is barely scratching the surface. In a majority of the folktales, almost none featured female warriors but female leaders and tricksters are aplenty. Raya is more an American princess in a costume.

I love this movie so so much! Growing up the only asian princess I could connect with in terms of physical appearance was Mulan and then Moana, a polynesian princess came out, and she was tan with dark hair which I loved. FINALLY we have a south east asian princess: ' )
Props to the research team that travelled around to really understand the different countries and cultures involved, this movie has reminded me so much of home and makes me wanna go back

Raya is surely not Filipina but shared cultural similarities due to interaction between countries during Malayo-Polynesian bonding period, So does the martial arts, weaponry, traditional hats etc. I admire vietnamese female fighters both modern and legendary. Let's appreciate them all

Raya more specifically represents Indonesia not Malay, RAYA with Indonesian pronunciation A instead of Malay pronunciation Raye especially with brown skin color typical of Indonesian women and pencak silat skills
And don'f forget. Indonesia's national anthem is INDONESIA RAYA

It could've been better. but putting all the ASEAN all in one, and didn't even put details in their clothes, how do we tell them apart which is which? then call them representation? though I appreciate the details of the martial arts and weapons used.
