Why Harry Potter Chose Ginny Over Anyone Else

I think Cho Chang was really great. She was a fun, attractive and talented witch. Loyal to Harry till the end in book 7. Hell, I could feel my stomach flip when Harry saw her as well. It was setup superbly as instant attraction/love at first sight that was mutual in book 3. Where it got messy, was the abrupt absence in book 6. And in the movies, not demonstrating the clear book rapport enough and changing the story in 5. Personally think she should have ended up as Cho Potter. In my view, the ONLY acceptable outcome given the buildup was Cho and Harry to end up together. They had the best chemistry, setup, mutually assured attraction and ultimately it would have interestingly made Harry appreciate how he got his girl (love at first sight) unlike Snape. Ginny was just a jarring cringey distraction from the excellent good versus evil plot. It takes away from Harry and Ginnys character the way things went. And throws out all the established Harry/Cho development as if a Dementor sucked the soul out of the entire story! Let me put it this way - in book 3, both clearly like each other. Book 4, again she was sincerely sorry she couldnt say yes to him and still visibly interested in him - supporting him at the start when most of the school didnt. Book 5, definite clear chemistry. And when there is a conversation about ginnys love life, he doesnt care. No guy/girl would be uninterested in the status of the one they desire. Thus he does not desire Ginny at all. The movies dont really do Cho justice though frankly change a lot of the books (Did you put your name into the Goblet, Dumbledore asked CALMLY) missing out a sizeable amount of plot in 3 and swapping characters like Cho, Dobby, Bagman, Lupin, etc out a lot. Cho Potter the whole way! Thats my head canon. Only alternative is Ginny is another Horcrux, has tricked Harry with a dark love potion and has some nefarious plot that will be defeated in a sequel. Hermione also deserved better than Ron. Harry deserved better than Ginny. Cho deserved better than being randomly cast aside by the author. It would have been like Ross and Rachel, Han and Leia, Alejandro and Eleanor, Mulan and Shang not ending up together by the storys end in Friends, ROTJ, Zorro, Mulan respectively.

No. In the movie, it feels like Harry and Hermione would be better. In the books, Ginny and Harry had a painful experience of possession by Voldemort and quidditch that they could connect to. Cho was not brave enough for Harry.

I love how they ended up together but Hermione could have also worked because they were so close to each other and they knew each other so well they also had some bonding moments that could have turned into a kiss scene

All these qualities are clearly there in hermione. I know that people will say she isn't given that much importance in movies. To all those: I have read all the books before watching the movies
