The Harry Potter movies are filled with scenes of characters flying. Which is a logistics nightmare for filming. Behind the scenes, and behind the magic, plenty of rigs had to be brought in for our favourite characters to compete in quidditch matches, pull silly pranks and outrun Dementors. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy all took to the sky for the quidditch scenes. And Harry, Ron and Hermoine Granger picked up the trusty brooms to escape the room of requirements as it burned to the ground. Harry, stopping to grab Malfoy created new challenges for the rig, as they had never filmed a shot with two people on one broom before. Aside from the brooms, there were plenty of magical creatures and flying vehicles too. Buckbeaks design in The Prisoner of Azkaban is phenomenal. Sixteen Ford cars were needed for the flying car sequence. The flying motorcycle is piloted by Hagrid. And lots of hanging upside down happened in the vehicles as well. Hermoine Granger is carried away on a vine, whipping through the air. The dragon from The Deathly Hallows makes its great escape with plenty of CGI help. And The Weasley twins pull a prank on Dolores Umbridge. It was hard for the CG team to match the animation of Fawkes the phoenix to the animatronic. And those candles in the great hall didnt fly themselves, nor were they CGI. New challenges were presented with every slight shift in weight and material. Flying is in every Harry Potter movie and the filmmaking team had to get creative to make it look realistic Date: 2022-06-06
MT19GTE008 Decade passed after last film of Harrypotter. But still gets millions of views with just the name of Harry Potter. The character Severus Snape is my favorite. What's yours?
