If Love Death + Robots volume three is anything like its predecessors, then we are in for some more spectacular scifi and horror stories. With that, we thought we would take a peek behind the animation process for the shorts and how they came up with their best ideas. Like, did you know its really hard to make an animated horse look good? Were covering that in The Secret War. The composer probably has the hardest job of anyone. Any guesses as to why? If you dont feel like guessing, just watch! Every short came with its own unique animating challenges but The Tall Grass had an especially interesting challenge. How were they going to give the grass its own personality? The most important factor for Automated Customer Service had to be the character designs. And man, were they something! Snow in the Desert had a unique challenge to handle: motion capture with kissing actors! All Through the House, the shows first motion capture episode still used elements of CGI. Life Hutch was another level of difficulty given they needed to fully animate Michael B. Jordan and have it indistinguishable from the real him. The actors performance was incredibly important in this one. This was also the case for Helping Hand. It was important that The Drowned Giants animation be as close to reality as possible to evoke a sense of wonder in the viewers. Theres something special inside every episode of Love Death + Robots, and we hope this video captures just a little bit of all of them. Give it a watch if youre as obsessed with this show as we are!
Lord: The new season of Love, Death and Robots has proved to be a hit with fans. For fans who have already burned through all eight episodes, Netflix has released a new featurette that takes audiences behind the scenes into the vast amount of work required to create the series' stunning animation.
