This just a theory, but Ironically the third season might drive away the female demographic that kept it alive by adding in so many new female characters. The male heavy cast was probably what drew the young female demographic to the series to begin with.
What do you guys think? I am not bashing the Showrunners' decision. Young Justice is a very interesting case in tv history considering its successful resurrection.
