Cap didn't leave Bucky high and dry at all. If you follow the Ancient One's single timeline theory, there are in fact two Steve Rogers in the 1970's now. The Cap from 2023, presumably laying low with Peggy and the Cap from the 40's still frozen in the ice who will be discovered and will go on to do all the things we remember from the movies, including helping Bucky, right up until the moment he left in 2023. It is possible that 2023 Cap helped Bucky earlier. Right at the end, we see Bucky tilt his head and smile before he ever looked in Old Cap's direction, as if he was remembering things remembering -new memories- that weren't there a second ago. Hopefully, that is something they will explore more fully at a later date.

I was surprised when Scarlet Witch took on Thanos, cuz SHE FINALLY GOT THE MOMENT/SCREEN TIME THAT SHE DESERVES, I mean I-m not gonna lie, Wanda is my favorite character in the film and I-m not saying this over favoritism, but she almost killed Thanos BY HERSELF, I-m very excited for her series

Going back to the past creates a new altered timeline, thus the original MCU timeline was not erased. This is the reason why I am not a fan of time travelling themes.

Steve deserved that happy ending. He lost 70 years of his life when everyone moved on and kept fighting when his own war was over. Hail Hydra!
