The First Order consolidate their power as Rey trains and the Resistance licks their wounds, suddenly as Rey and the Resistance make a stand against the First Order they are attacked by Palpatine and his newly revived Empire. Then the Resistance and the First Order work together to stop the Empire, Palpatine kills Kylo and Rey kills Palpatine and we get new Jedi and new Alliance until a new dark side faction rises up to imbalance the Force. The cycle of Force Imbalance continues.

Amanda if you watch the first trailer when Rey jump the starship you can see that the light saber she is hold is being held together by some medal bands. Which means she rebuild the light saber that she is using plus if you watch closely when light up it lets off a spark which is why she has something red wrapped around her hand that hold the saber.

They are making (at least) three more Star Wars films. Names unreleased (obviously, but the release dates are set to be the 16th of December 2022, 20th December 2024 and December 18th 2026. This may not be true, but it seems to have a reliable source.

If we need to read a book to find out how the resistance fleet got rebuilt instead of seeing it in the film, that means that the film failed. P. S. there are more Star Wars films on the way: Kevin Feige is involved with one of them.
