They can't all be One Piece. Join Ashley as we count down our picks for the worst live action adaptations, including the likes of Death Note, Speed Racer, Dragonball Evolution, and more! Are any of these anime flicks guilty pleasures? Anime as a total different Visual Representation exists for a reason and that is the freedom from the limitation of human expressions and imagination execution from the trational means, Now, why the F k people are trying again n again wants sabotage it. However technically correct you go try make it, it still does not have that soul to it & my absolute rage is because of live adaptation of One Piece, whoever and however anyone tries to praise or justify it that show sucks. and sucks big time.

So, white washing was the only issue for you about Ghost in the Shell? What about the political topic of the original, not to mention the visual environnement - would you even consider living in a place like that without puking every five minutes? There's no creativity in this film, it's the exact opposite of its original, yet we didn't expect much more from someone who was more famous about the affair in which he found himself during his previous attempt at filming than for the film itself.

I would've liked a proper adaptation of Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball. It's a shame the one's we got were just plain awful. Ghost in the Shell i watched and didn't hate it. Wasn't anything special. Scarlett Johansson i thought was fine. Alita i hadn't even heard of. Read some reviews and saw the trailer and thought i'd give it a watch. Really enjoyed it. Irony there that number 1 was the best film out of all of them and it really was the one i wanted the least.

How was what happened with Ghost in the Shell idiotic? How is it idiotic that the CREATOR of the OG manga and therefore Major signed off on Scarlett Johanson in the role? In fact he said was perfect in the role because Major ISN'T Japanese. Major isn't even her real name. Major has no race because she isn't human. No the media just had to override him because Japanese people are problematic and they needed fake outrage.

I have seen a trailer for Speed Racer when I was little, but didn't know the name of the movie. I have also seen a trailer for Alita: Battlr Angel. had no idea the other movies on this list came out. They all seem great. Also, I thought the live action One Piece would be one of them.
The guy's hairdo in the live action Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a different hair color compared to the anime.

I'm surprised Fullmetal Alchemist wasn't on the list. Or rather, did anyone actually want a Fullmetal Alchemist movie? I saw some of Cowboy Bebop but i couldn't continue after the second episode. As for Dragonball Evolution, I saw the movie on HBO. That movie was an insult to Dragon Ball. Fun fact: Justin Chatwin and Emmy Rossum who starred in that movie are also on the series Shameless.

I love Bleach so much so that I have a combination of Ichigo's hollow mask and combat pass tattooed on my leg. When I saw the live action adaptation of Bleach on Netflix I tried to watch it, but I only got about 5 minutes in before I had to turn it off cuz I didn't like it. Then they ended up trying to dub it later and it still didn't work. I'll just stick with the anime version.

While dragon ball evolution is an absolutely terrible movie, it is something that we deep inside glad it existed because if it wasn't for this film then Akira Toriyama wouldn't have returned to continue the series giving us battle of gods, resurrection f which all lead to the creation of Super, after expressing frustration and disappointment over this film.

It feels contradictory having Death Note that high up. I think plenty of people asked for a Death Note adaptation. It wasn't a terrible idea considering that it focuses on psychological drama rather than action, so as a concept it's not doomed to failed. Having it above something as ridiculous as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure makes this list just weird.

How would anyone like a live action TV show of Fullmetal Alchemist? I m currently working on one. I ve written a script for the pilot episode, but I need to get it professionally polished and I need help getting someone to produce it. I really want to get the author involved but I don t know how to get in touch with her since she lives in Japan.
reply

Dragonball Evolution failed because Stephen Chow(Kung Fu Hustle, great film see it) didn't direct and was not allowed to submit any ideas. Instead we got the guy that directed two Final Destination films and Jet Li's The One to call action and some guy named Ben Ramsey(who had never written anything before) to pen the script.

What s hilarious is that the live action Dragon Ball movie was originally set to be the first of a series of live-action films, with the sequel adapting the Dragon Ball Z anime. Thankfully the sequels were cancelled due to the box office disaster.
Akira Toriyama wouldn t want his legacy to be butchered by Hollywood.

First Disney went down the dark path of making live action remakes, and now Japan. Just when I was hoping Japan would stay on the good path of 2D hand-drawn animation. Well, there's still Ireland with their new studio, Cartoon Saloon.
P. S. Should've added One Piece to this list.

Nobody wanted an Alita movie, now we realize it was actually the live action adaptation we didn't knew we wanted, and now we are asking for a sequel(in fact The fandom know as the Alita Army, is perhaps one of the least toxic fandoms, and the actress Rosa Salazar is real treasure.
reply

How about all of them? Film studios need to realize a simple concept- if the source material was great, then don't try to f it up with bad live action. Instead, focus on remastering classics for the current age and keep those that are still stunning ALONE.
reply

Alita Battle Angel's movie was actually much better than the anime
It had a more fleshed-out story, with deeply explored characters and better/more iconic moments
The eyes didn't bother me at all, I don't understand why people dislike it

The only thing about Death Note (2017) that was remotely good about it, was Willem Dafoe as Ryuk. That was an exelent casting choice. I grew up watching the Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy, and I've never forgotten how freaky he was as the Green Goblin.
reply

I really enjoyed ghost in the shell live action movie more then Alita battle angel. Fantastic job on the video watch mojo. Honourable mention of black butler live action movie made me check out the anime also check out the manga series love it.
reply

Sorry, but I EXTREMELY disagree with you number one! Alita is very good! I am looking forward to the possible part 2! ( what abou a list like that with the GOOD adaptations? My number one goes to Yamato. and Guntz must be on the list.
