Ehh I definitely disagree with a lot of this one, just things missing and things that be swapped.
Especially the Napster one that one should be top 5 I don’t think people realise how much that impacted the music landscape. Like it’s almost single handedly responsible for destroying the the music economy in most countries the reason most musicians can’t make a living from it now is because it caused a 95% decline in revenue for the industry and has left it struggling since, even large artists I know can’t get advances to get proper producers and only make like $200 a week off it.
The Taylor Swift one is weird but I do think it should be higher just for the legal precedent of an artist re-recording because they don’t own their masters.
Also Live Aid I think had a larger cultural impact than Mozart’s 9th Century because I think one’s historically important, the other had a larger reach at the time of happening and to this day is talked about to a greater extent like it impacted lives and was momentous on a different scale.
Other ones I think probably should take place over some are David Hasselhoff at the Berlin Wall. Even though it’s a meme and his part in it gets overblown, Looking for Freedom did become a staple and an anthem for a super important historical moment in world history.
Another one is Woodstock 99 it’s so riddled with infamy that it’s essentially changed the dynamic of how most music festivals are run, especially safety wise but yeah, just it’s so infamous that it’s kind of transcended time.
Those are just some personal takes.

The Taylor Swift case is more important than some people think. The label industry is pretty cutthroat. They are like slave owners, taking advantage of the musicians under them to disgusting levels. Swift wrote the songs, sung the songs and performed the songs, but did not own them, so when her old label was bought by another company and there was a dispute, she was prohibited from playing her old songs and the label released old records without her approval. It is a pretty nasty slap in the face. So, by doing the re-release, she gained control of her songs and could perform them without the fear of lawsuit.

I was very young when Woodstock happened. I was told that Jimi's Star Spangled Banner was disrespectful. Electric guitars are an instrument of rebelion. An electric played by a black man
Fast forward to adult me. I was at my Dad's house watching a game. A Purple Haze instrumental was featured in a Coke commercial. Coke obviously paid big bucks for the rights, but my Dad commented unfavorably. At least he noticed.
Jimi is widely regarded today as one of the greatest musicians to walk the planet. My Dad never got it. May they both rest in peace.

Not sure if anyone else has already brought this up, but multi means more than one, right And did you know, before 8 track recording, the leap from 1 to 2, and then 2 to 4 had to be achieved - it even took the involvement of a physicist out of Los Alamos.
Les Paul is legendary but look up:
Tommy Dowd.
The guy literally responsible for bringing a significant percentage of the recordings that have enhanced your life throughout the years to life.

During the Freddie Mercury tribute show a priceless moment happened when the audience was singing along with George Michael on Somebody to Love and they sang the final chorus the same way as it was on the album breaking the word love into multiple syllables on multiple levels. I apologize that I am not describing it properly but if you know the song you probably know of what I speak. Or type.

the earlier days of Napster and Livewire was crazy back then followed by torrent was crazy! The Beatles, MJ, Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Jimmi Hendrix and so much more past performers -once in a generation names for a lot of genres. This list here showcases some big historical moments in music. #1 definitely surprised me but after reading into how he did it, definitely hands down!

Imagine the most electronic sounding music possible. All of it comes from the oldest, most classical music you can imagine, and this is one of the points where electronic stuff really was taking off in an entirely new form as in one of many different phases. I’m a super electronic/melodic music person, but I love where it has evolved from.

Elvis - Where is Elvis in all black leather, in the round, in 1968 All healthy, tanned, taut, in all his prime technicolor perfectness.
Madonna - Rolling around in her wedding poof bracelets, simulating floor sxx, shocked no one but Mrs. Gore & Co little girls, who were too busy asking mommy what a virgin was to notice.

Left out:
Selena sells out the Houston Astrodome (65, 000 seats. Selena was the first artist to completely sell out the Astrodome and that is HUGE considering the great many acts (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, etc) that preceded her. That a female Tejano singer can pull off what so many failed to do is truly remarkable.

Having Taylor Swift on here for her Taylor’s version re-recordings shouldn’t be on here because there were far more important moments that happened in the industry than this. Just because she is almost everywhere these days doesn’t mean she has to be included in every list like this.

OK, you had the beginning of jazz and an excellent classical piece. But where is the beginning of folk music, blues, Latin, or any of the different forms of classical music beginnings All of which influenced rock and roll, and jazz. Your listing is bias toward rock and roll events,

The launch of MTV is number one bar none. The music video itself became an art form and Michael Jackson’s Thriller video and Thriller album sales proves it. Not to mention Madonna at the first VMA’s. The music industry was never the same before or after

Hey now, where’s Band-Aid’s historical event Let’s not forget that, without Bob Geldof’s _Do They Know It’s Christmas, _ for Quincy Jones to pilfer, mimic, copy or steal the idea from, there’d BE no _We Are The World, _ LiveAid or FarmAid.

I stopped with the livery stable blues, this makes it sound as though the first well known jazz recording is being confused with the creation of jazz itself and the impact the genre itself had. It's probably not intentional, but comes off very wrong.

Taylor Swift must be paying all these blogs to include her in these kind of stuff to make her look like she’s up there with these legends cause ain’t no way they seriously thought she belonged in this list. Pure forced inclusion

I get annoyed when I see these lists all touting We Are The World.
If Bob Geldof didn't get Band Aid together over in the UK, would We Are The World ever have happened. I think the answer is probably not, leaning toward no.

11: 22 - Nothing's more American than outraging the conservatives! All the conservatives wanna do is impose limits on what a citizen of their country can and cannot do. If you p! ss them off, you're Americaning right!

The release of Thriller should be on here. If you look at album sales in the couple of years before the release of Thriller and after I think it's a pretty significant event in music history.

My dad still says that he fundly remembers laying in his bed, under the sheets listning to pirate radios. Not a singular event, but still helped shape the music scene nonetheless
