I traveled around Indo for about 9 months years back so it will of changed a lot since I was last there. When you exchange money on the street you'll see places that offer a much better rate than others, avoid & stick to established exchange places. There are a million and one scams why you'll be short changed. Whilst almost everything is open to bartering it shouldn't be about bartering them into the ground, if you smile and be light hearted with it it'll go a long way. Ubud on Bali is worth a look, very popular with Yoga, nice place. Boat trip to Komodo Islands. If you can surf you should look at Sumbawa. For me Gilli T was over developed and that was over 15 years ago I would check it out but also check out the other Gilli Islands as well. Dark Sunglasses, Hat are a must and watch out for the guys filming you on the beach from the bushes. Yes they do it, I had to chase them off when they were filming my girlfriend. use a credit card instead of a debit in case it gets cloned, (if you draw cash from a machine using a debit card then check the machine for a cloning device) I would also suggest getting an internal flight and visiting The Bohorok Orangutan Centre at Bukit Lawang, awesome place.

Wow What an experience to actually stand on a frozen lake ahah We are currently in the end of our world tour with my boyfriend and we visited Indonesia for two months (september-november 2016) so if I have any advice it is: - Do get your 60 day vis in advance we didn't had to book a flight to go out ad in the country again after 30 days which was a time and money saver option. - Don't go to Bali except if you are searching for low cost luxury: villas, swimming pools and occidental food. The local culture is now an attraction you can barely meet the remaining locals, it's getting expensive for south east asia, the landscape has nothing special. - Do visit: . Lombok and it's amazing volcano. North sumatra to trek in the jungle and meet the wild orang-outans (one of our best experience check with on the rocks bungalow in Bukit Lawag their guides are the best. Flores for the landscape and the bioluminescence in the sea. Komodo for diving and the view everything that's really the destination we missed in Indonesia. And of course Raja Amat we stayed on Kri Island that was the true highlight of the trip diving with manta rays and living on your remote island under the coconut trees Have fun

I paid a visit Lombok last week, there are places I'd like to recommend, 1, Rinjani vacano, 2, black sand beach along the west coast line, and the pink sand beach at the southeast side, anyhow the pink color depends on the sunshine, if the sunshine is not bright enough then the pink color wouldn't show up. As many people listed Gilis, yes it's a place u must pay a visit if u went to Lombok. we stayed at the south of Lombok near Kuta beach, there is a homestay named The Spot, it's a place integrated hotel, restaurant and Bar, it's a pity that there is no room left for us most of the people who're living there are long-term, and they 're foreigners(I'm Chinese, and it's quite cheap there, it's like 10-15 usd per night, most of the people who lived there like renting a motobike and a surfing board and play with their friends. what's more I'd like to introduce u a song, it's wrote and sang by local people, Lombok I love you, you can search it on youtube, from the video you could know better of Lombok. I help it could do some help.

i have been to many countries in Asia and i have to say, the Indonesian people are def. one of the most friendly and caring i'have met: ) u guys should go to Borneo we made a boat trip you can book for several days through the jungle: D (privat chef, guide and captain included )Tanjung Putting Nationalpark and afterwards we went to Derawan Island which has only one street and only a few very local people and no western stuff: ) you should walk a bit and stay at the most colorful guesthouse on the water, they'r nice and the rooms are coming with little balcony's you can actually jump from there into the ocean when the tide is high. Also there are Turtles all over so you can swim and snorkel with them every single day: ) when you are there book a day trip to the other islands, they will take you to one with an amazing beach, one with a sweat water lake and stingless jellyfish and also you will have the opportunity to snorkel with manta ray right in the middle of the ocean, which is incredible

I spent many weeks in Bali and I must say my most favorite area to be at is Canggu - there are tourists but not too many. Its very chill, lost of places with healthy food (Betelnut Cafe, Nalu Bowls) and yoga retreats. Another area which is super nice is Ubud which is in the middle of an island, jungle feel, green everywhere, very spiritual and gorgeous place. If you want to go to a much more calmer island, I'd suggest you to go to Gili Air - its so small there is no cars. The only vehicles are small carriages with horses, bicycles or by feet (you can walk around the island in about 2hrs. The life here is very simple, friendly people, reggae music, turquoise water, white sandy beaches. Another island worth going to is Sumba - bit further from Bali, I haven't been but some of my friends have and its not too touristy there either. Hope this helps. Good luck with the travels

Oh awesomeBali is very crowded and touristic, but north Ubud is definitely an amazing hub for healthy eating and yoga. There are lots of yoga retreats up there. At certain times of the year there are also free 10 day Vippassanna meditation retreats. One center is in north Bali and another is in Java, the island over. I have heard amazing things from it. But you need to sign up way in advanceIf a big cultural hub is what you are looking for, Jogjakarta is a bustling city in Java, with incredible markets, interesting places, amazing food, etc. It's very hot and dusty though. I've never actually been but I'm sure there is a yoga retreat somewhere over there. If you have any places in mind already from research, etc, I'm happy to give any advice if I know of them. There are tons of absolutely incredible vegan restaurants in Bali. 'Alchemy' will definitely need to be visited.

If you head into Borneo, I really suggest heading up into the Malaysian part of it as it's incredible. SE Asia has it's problems with animal trading and in Borneo, deforestation and illegal animal trade is a huge problem. I throughly recommend visiting Orangutan project (Malaysian Borneo) and international animal rescue (Indonesian Borneo) as they do invaluable conservation work which I think you both would really value as well as the fact you both have a platform to spread awareness on this type of thing Please don't got to Sepilok as it isn't legitimate (a multitude of reasons that I'm sure you can research) but speaking from first hand experience, I know the prior two are Have an amazing time

Go north in Bali, Singaraja is not touristy at all because the beaches are eroding slowly. But you can rent a bike there for cheap and check out the Gitgit waterfall/ National park - it's gorgeous. All of the national parks are wonderful actually. There are amazing temples, the mother-beast of them all is one incredibly high up where a huge vaginal-shaped window frames half of the island - an amazing spot for a video. I'll try find out the name and get back to you guys. Ask me directly via my youtube page if you have more questions - I lived in Sumatra for a year so anything you wanna know about Java/Sumatra or Cambodia, I'd love to help. You guys have helped and inspired me so much. Rory

Maybe we will find each other somewhere in the middle of beautiful nowhere. :) Take care, have a lovely adventure

NUSA PENIDA OFF THE COAST OF BALI Guys you'll love it - search crystal beach Nusa Penida on Google. It's a slightly less traveled to place next door to Bali. Also Lombok is meant to be like how Bali was 10-15 years ago before it got hit by tourism. Lombok is meant to be beautiful, more secluded waterfalls out that way. And then you have the Komodo islands - could almost be out of an episode of lost I've felt the same about heading to Bali as I'm going out to Indonesia in June. But I feel like it's still a good place that I need to go visit, I just might be sharing my experience with 20-30 other random tourists hahaha
