I love your explanation. I have not had great experiences with hair salons because I am usually a minority in my community. I find that there are plenty of pictures of current dues for Caucasian or Black women but I as a medium brown Mexican woman in my late 30s feel so left out. I don't find as many cool or currently trending hair colors to comapre to for me or for Asian or Native American women. I wonder if you could hook me and my fellow mestizas with a video showing hair trends that would look good on or darker but slightly redish skin tones. If that makes sense.

Do you use the same products for the balayage and the babylights, i. e. the same bleacher or do you use different products and is the root shadow a color or rather a toner? I live in Germany and when I told my hairdresser, for example, that I would like to have a color only at the base of the hair, like a root shadow, she said she couldn't do that, because there would be no nice transition. So is it possible that the products used for a root shadow are not available in Germany or Europe?

I have learned so much and I have asked with more technical terms and she still overloads it with blonde. She's an amazing stylist. She just doesn't know what I'm talking about I don't think. I feel terrible because I love her and she's the sweetest. Anyone know how to nicely say I didn't like my hair? I don't want to tell her because it's not like it looks bad. It's just not what I want. PS I pay a good amount for my hair for my area and tip generously.

What is a route shadow or a root smudge? Is that what my stylus is supposed to use to cover up the little gray hairs that Im getting at the front line of my head? He seems to not know how to cover them up and most stylus dont know so can someone tell me what Im supposed to tell them to do? I am less than10% grey just in the front of my head and I do not wanna dye my hair one color. I am dirty blonde and I want to keep getting highlights.

My signature look is rose gold babylights on dark hair. Got it done kinda by accident when i asked for a balayage after chopping my curly hair from waist lenght up to my chin, and the hair stylist told me it was too short for showing of a balayage but he promised to do something cool with my hair: hello babylights! He did them in light brunette tho, so i dyed them pink a few weeks later and it's been my look since then: D

Thank you for a really informative video! I go to a stylist who is not only a genius with the scissors, but a colour expert. As I have short hair, she uses baby-lights, two-tones, and gives me a flattering auburn blend. As I'm in my mid-fifties, she makes me look at least a decade younger, it is such a flattering style! I love Balayage and baby-lights - much more flattering than a block colour.

Thank you so much for this video, I am looking to get highlights for the first time in my life, I have never done anything like this to my hair, no highlights or dying, or anything, so I am very nervous, but also super excited, I wanna do blonde highlights for my dark brown pixie cut, and after seeing this I definitely wanna do slicing.

I love your explanations BUT your basic highlight costs one price then when you add the other techniques the cost goes up.
Our basic highlight is $135 to start or balayage/foilayage is $180 to start. Add a color melt/full color and that is $90 more. I wish you would have explained cost and time. These are 3 hour+ techniques.

Omgosh I had the worst experience with a hair stylist. I even showed her a photo and I did my best to explain and I ended up with with a crown of yellow grossness. She didn't even try to make the lines. I wanted ash and I ended up with yellow gross highlights. It was sooooo bad that I had to get my entire hair dyed black.

I have question, i want to get slice highlights, but i want to have light brown hair then do the slice highlights! The last time i bleach my hair was in 2018,
Should i bleach my hair again then do the toner on my own. Can i still do the slice highlights? The pic you showed for slice highlights, thats exactly i want.

I have always wanted well not always but a while ago when I heard someone say surprise me with my hair I have wanted to say that to somebody do my hair. I don't know what looks good on me but I think it's definitely blonde I was a blonde baby a blonde toddler until I was 8.

I'm getting my hair done today for the first time ever. I only ever dyed it once with an Arctic Fox dye almost 7 years ago and that washed out in a month. -. I was so nervous and had no idea what to begin to ask for but thanks to your videos I feel allot more confident

I went to the hair salon today and got a balayage and its platinum! I told him I wanted highlights but like triple the amount he would normally do and he said so like a balayage and I was like sure! Im in love with it and its pretty much white! Im in love
