Hairdresser reacts to americas next top model makeovers s. 12 Tendou: Brad youre amazing, I like you, but you were really insensitive to these girls and mean this time. Put yourself in their shoes and try to see from their perspective. Some people have emotional attachments to things ( not just hair ) for many different reasons. Whether its trauma or something else. You never know. As someone who does have mental health issues, its so demeaning and hurtful for someone to make fun of you or say negative shit about you having a panic attack. It is completely valid for any of these girls ( whether they have trauma or mental health issues or none at all ) for them to have these sort of reactions or feel certain ways. Please try to be more understanding cause your comments were really awful. To some what you said may not be a big deal, but for others it is. Also, it is kind of upsetting and concerning to see your fondness ) liking for Tyra. She is a horrible horrible horrible person and the fact that you just glossed over that lowkey racist comment about that tan girl was not cool and made me really uncomfortable. Do your research in Tyra because she is not a person to be fond of or to look up to

when you have really long hair it takes a long time everyday to take care of it, research and knowledge to keep it healthy and strong. it takes up so much time of your life that it becomes part of your life. if its all cut of that part of your life could feel like a waste: (
if you see hair getting chopped off everyday it doesnt seem like a big deal but if youve ever only taken care of the ends it can be a lot.
a friend of mine had hair down to her knees because her parents wanted her to. when she got 18 she was allowed to finally cut and it went to her chin, it stood up like crazy because it the roots were used to holding much more weight: 'D

Most of the women looked better before the stylists took over. What a shame, they made most look worse IMO. 9: 33 I would not have changed her look; she was perfect before they got hold of her.
And WTH is it with all the bleaching hair to yellow! I hate it!
When someone goes years without cutting their hair, there is a reason for it. They love it. I've had short hair for many years, but C19 arrived, and I've let it grow out and I too am attached to my new long hair. I'd cry if someone cut it short too.

Brad your fashion sense is remarkable and I love your individual style. This is exactly why I fail to understand how on the one side you support your own fashion individuality and on the other side think standing up for ones style and fashion is wrong.
I really liked watching your videos but this is really a game over for me. I know you don't care if one person who you don't even know doesn't watch your videos anymore. But I hope you read this and maybe consider what I wrote. Thank you.

Whenever I see the sort of extreme reactions they got from girls on this show, I have to remind myself that some people are much more attached to their hair than I am. Ive chopped mine off to a pixie at least 4 times and had every length between that and mid-back. I do think Im quite lucky to have thick quick-growing hair (Id say about 4 per year, so a drastic cut doesnt seem like as much of a commitment to me as it does to others.

Hair holds a LOT of memories and emotions. Having it cut against your will or choice forces you to give up things you aren't ready to let go of yet.
Like imagine if someone made you remove your memories of say your graduation or last Christmas before a loved one died. It would be traumatic.
That's what an unwilling haircut can feel like

i agree with the comments that its totally understandable to be attached to your hair or cry when its cut a way you dont like BUT all of these girls know when they go to casting that this show does really dramatic makeovers and may completely change how they look. they know exactly what theyre signing up for.

In Native American culture Their long hair is one of the ways that they show their pride. Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s when white men were trying to force native Americans into acting white cutting Native Americans hair off was the white mans way of trying to erase Native American culture.

If you ever wonder what gaslighting is the bs they pulled with the girl making her think shes about to lose her career or her hair one second then saying you need to trust the people you work with after revealing they were lying about the whole thing. is a pretty good example.

These girls should not be forced to cut their hair. They are wigs and clip in extensions for a reason. If the stylist styling me for the run way or for a shoot can not handle my really long curly hair or my really short pixie cut then they shouldnt be a stylist to begin with.

Its just hair honestly it grows back dont know why most makeovers are them crying about it. I had my hair short for 15 years then started growing it out just to see how it looks like if i dont like my long hair ill shave it but long hair does have more styling benefits

They totally make changes for shock value. That was terrible that they scared that girl. Honestly I feel it would be more interesting if they allowed the girls to be more part of the makeover process and empower them to make some decisions for themselves.

For the girl who they psyched out about cutting it, after she reacted the way she did they shouldve actually cut it. Like if shes not even gonna let them cut it let alone color it then shes not flexible enough to be a model

The styling from American Top Model is so harmless. They don't change the hairs much and nearly never someone crys. They also already know what they will get, so that they have time to prepare

they give all the black girls painful ugly ass weaves and get rid of their natural beautiful hair but then the white girl with ugly stringy split ends they're like oh ur perfect the way you are x
