Hairdresser reacts to long hair to pixie cut transformations Cobra: While I applaud these gals' bravery, I absolutely could NOT, ever. My hair is similar texture to girl #1, but mine's a bit longer and slightly thicker - and I was still just triggered the whole time she was hacking away, hoping that she doesn't ever want it long again because it will be a pain! I learned from my own bad experience when I was younger that short hair is not a solution to being tired of your hair being unruly. And please make sure you have the right bone structure to pull off short hair. IMHO, Girl #1 had perfect bone structure for that cut, while Girl #2 did not.
First, you think it will be easier to maintain, but in actuality short hair takes a ton of maintenance in terms of getting regular haircuts every 4-6 weeks for shaping, otherwise it looks awful. Plus, most of the grow-out period it will be a full-on mullet unless you keep chopping the back while the top/crown grows out slooooowwwwly. (and mullets were NOT cool back then, I remember the ridicule during that painful time. I still don't think they are cool but i know they were trendy for a bit. With long hair, any issues are pretty well hidden and you can go longer between cuts. and with long curly hair a lot of color mistakes aren't as obvious either.
Second, curly hair like that will take FOREVER to grow out. It took almost a full 4 years until my hair was able to be at all one length just at the top of my shoulders. So this could be a very long-term mistake that you're making, so be sure you want to commit to a pixie before doing this.

I just did this yesterday. Well, I didn't cut it myself, but honestly, I probably would have done a cleaner job with a set of buzz cutters. They cut at least 2 inches too short on the top and the sides of the top are all uneven. ( AND THEY HAD A PICTURE IN FRONT OF THEM OF WHAT I WANTED LENGTH WISE ) I made no mistake I was displeased as I threw my hoodie over my head IN THE SALON. I was so mad. Came home, washed it and TRIED to do SOMETHING with it. I had TOLD her I was super super short on sides and back, and enough on top to just take a few flips with a flat iron to try some fun things. Hey, Im 52, I've earned some fun! But noooo, too short for a flat iron to do ANYTHING. So I just played around and now Im kinda rocking this Linda Dano type deal. Ah well. Live and learn. Hair grows back. BUT. my main reason for doing this, was to kind of reset on my hair. It was so damaged. I want to start afresh ( kind of a Marie Kondo of the hair. Im just at a loss of what the best things like shampoos and treatments are going to help my hair grow back out healthy. SO of course. I go to Brad. And find this. LOL

When I first did a pixie, it was exactly like the second video. I didn't have you back then, lol I was 13 or so, so that was 18 years ago. I ended up having to walk down the road to a friend's house, his mom cut his hair all the time and knew how to do a boy haircut. I wore a bandana for 2 months cuz it was way shorter than I wanted to go.
I rock a shorter, shaved pixie cut now and do it myself but have learned! Lol. I have to take off my glasses and use 2 mirrors of course, but it's exactly how I like it cut. I love watching your videos!

Hairdressers aren't good at short hair either. I have had a pixie for 7 years now. When I go to get it cut, they're always like, I don't want to cut it too short. Please, it is a pixie cut, it is supposed to be short. Two hours later I leave still looking shaggy. That's why I cut my pixie at home. I would love to find a barber who will do women's hair.

I once cut my curly hair to a bob, but only cause I already had a hairdresser appointment to go a few inches short. Recently cut it shorter again while it was in braids. I just held the cut-off-hair onto the next strand to cut off about the same length everywhere. I am lucky that curly hair is sooo forgiving when it comes to unevenness. It looks sick!

Once I cut my hair myself and lemme say. it was. pathetic and terrible. so I want to a stylist and asked her to do something. which will make it look a bit more better. and she did something and asked me PLEASE. I BEG U. PLS DON'T CUT IT BY YOURSELF AGAIN. uhmm. oops.

Dear Brad, Please consider putting out a scent free line of organic products. Some people can't use products with fragrances or common chemicals in them. I actually make my own shampoo at home but have to buy conditioner still because I haven't found a way to make that.

Thanks to a bad reaction to meds I had to go from shoulder blade length to pixie cut except I wasn't as confident as some of these ladies and had to go to a professional. let me tell you. 2/10 not really able to recommend I miss my hair

This reminds me of the time I freaked the fxck out and chopped my own hair and it turned out awesome because of my punk aesthetic
Long story short I did whatever but with a plan and in the end it turned out the way I wanted it lol

OMG the second girl sums up what I did from October 2019 to April 2020 until I literally just buzzed my head. Everyone needs to hack their hair to pieces at least once in their lives. It was as fun as it was horrifying.

I've had a pixie for 20 years. I've tried growing it back out a few times but always cut it. It's easier to deal with, especially because I have psoriasis. I hardly have to do anything in the morning and it's cute!

ok Brad, can we please get some videos of you showing how to do transformations like this properly? i seriously doubt that these would be haircut fails if you were standing behind their chairs doing the cutting

I got a pixie cut like 10 month ago, my hair is now almost over my shoulders and let me just say, the dresser who cut my hair cut it so badly and not theres a side of my hair that is longer than the other
