Is hard water ruining your hair? Jamie: I didnt realize I had well water until a few years of major damage to my hair.
When I moved into the place that I still rent I immediately noticed that the water smelled horribly when using it.
So I put in a water filter head in my shower and one in the kitchen but like Brad said it helps some so true. Some.
It really cuts down the smell but if Im in another room and someone else is taking a shower I can smell the water.
It took me quiet a while to figure out what was going on. I noticed that my hair and skin was always better when I would go and visit my daughter or son for a couple weeks
But my hair and skin was right back to the same condition as it was before I left not long after I got back home.
I noticed that it looked at really pretty when I used Ions
color solutions crystals clarifying treatment on my hair
(Removes mineral and styling buildup preps hair for chemical treatment)
I thought maybe I just had some build up and then I was going to refresh the highlights.
But using that alone refreshed my hair.
Within a week or 2 my hair was back to being brassy and dry.
I started searching for answers I needed help with my hair and face. I was spending a lot on face products and hair products.
My Face has become so dry and sensitive and oily in some areas that never used to be that way and I dont want to continue rinsing my hair with the well water.
Because even though I would wash out all the impurities the buildup was right back there in no time.
So today Im starting with Malibu c wellness hard water treatment to then but I will be washing my hair and face with distilled water. I looked into it and distilled water is free of all impurities. Since its just for my hair and face for right now I just bought a small at home product to make distilled water.
Not for drinking. However I did find out a lot about tap water in certain areas, purified water And now well water.
I had read up about this using distilled water on skin and hair last year sometime but I never went through with it.
So about 5 days ago being totally fed up with the situation with my skin and hair I decided to I order what I needed on Amazon it arrived this morning.
I am starting it today and Im excited.

Is it weird that I'm struggling with naturally soft water? My scalp never feels clean unless I use a chelated shampoo, but then my hair lengths and ends get too stripped. I've tried regular or gentle shampoos for weeks/months, but my roots are stil limp even after my hair dries on wash day. My scalp is also often itchy and irritated (pinkish or redish. I used to get 3A spirals without even trying, but now it's really hard to get definition. I've also been losing a lot of hair to the point that my hair part is wider and the hair right beside the part is thinner (I can see more of my scalp than I used to. Yes, I know. It sounds like I have hard water, but I have verified that my area naturally has soft water.

Im sure I havent always had hard water, but I know thats my problem now, and it sucks that its not just stress thats thinning my hair, I used to think my hair goes greasy when its its natural black colour but now I found that theory is dumb lol.
And oh with these hard water symptoms questions you missed out Cobweb looking shit in your hair brush, and more hair than the norm coming out when brushing your hair.
After I shower and my hair is extra knotty and stickler, literally makes me feel like Im being punished for something I did on a pass life lol

I've washed my hair with soft water pretty much my entire life and I just moved to a place with hard water. My hair is a mess! It looks dried and burnt. It tangles so easily and I have puffy curly hair therefore it makes me want to cry just thinking of doing my hair because it tends to stick and it hurts so bad. I have a shower filter but it doesn't make that much of a difference. I also have virgin hair and I'm just shocked how hard water has been damaging my hair. I never knew water can make such a big difference haha

I recently moved and because of it my blonde hair has turned red/orange. I know that its mostly iron because you can literally smell it. I use 8 second wonder water and it has helped with the tangles A LOT.
I want to dye my hair a dark brown to cover the orange. Whats the best advice for this situation? Can I still dye it and use the 8 second wonder water? And would I have to have the iron removed from my hair before dying?

I have straight hair and haven't had frizz my whole life. Then I moved house last year and suddenly my hair is frizzy overnight. I have been struggling with it for many months now, and couldn't find any reason it would suddenly change. It didn't occur to me that it could be a change in the water. We are using a filter in the shower now, but I'm afraid the hard water may have already done damage to my hair.

Important note: most of the time there is always minerals and metals in water the only time there isnt is when its been removed and turned into pure H2O and that its dangerous to consume in any way. HOWEVER these shouldnt be in a large quantity and if they are then there is a problem and u get the bad consequences. Still have four minutes left of the video though so maybe Im adding unnecessary information

Give credit where credits due! I just watched a another video on this topic and this dude repeated EVERYTHING Jannelle O'Shaughnessy said in her video 2 years ago, this ones a year old, so yeah. He basically searched on a random topic, watched a video on it and copied paste. Geesh!

One of the reasons I'm leaving Lincolnshire UK is because the water completely ruined my hair it didnt matter what I used it ended up like straw
So I moved back to the west and my hair is definitely getting better
I did notice no ladies had a lovely hair in that county.

We have extremely hard water. I wash my hair in blue Dawn Dish soap once a week and it takes all the buildup out. Best clarifying shampoo I have tried. They use it on oil spill animals. It's not harsh like you would thing. Just make sure. you condition after: )

You can get a free water sample test at your local Home Depot. You just put some water in a little tube and Mail it or drop it off at your local store. Results come back in a week and they will call you and tell you whats in your water!

I went to a hotel in key west. and for whatever reason the water in the shower made my hair really sticky and tangly. and like took forever to dry. When I got home showered in my own shower and my hair was back to normal. super weird

My dad's house has hard water, mom's has soft water. BIG BIG difference with my hair between houses, I have blonde hair and it always looks more brassy and greasy when I'm at my dads, I can feel it getting gross while in the shower.

I have a water softener and someone came to check it a few months ago for an annual check-up and he turned it off! My hair now is so damaged, frizzy, greasy and I'm experiencing hair loss. Trying to fix the damage now: (

Unless your on your own private well, then public water municipalities should have water tested regularly & posr results online, or otherwise make it publicly accessible.
This explains a lot of my hair problems
