Hairdresser reacts to bizarre balayage techniques Kitty: I an older hairdresser. And caps can be used very creatively, and well. They can give amazing babylights and are a lot faster than foil. The problems I see, is firstly using the runnery ones? No thanks. The thin plastic disposables are better because they can be blown dry, shrunk on smaller heads. Also I feel like stylists see a cap and just want to poke the grid. sigh Dont poke the grid. Think about where you would see natural highlights and pull heavier there. You can also layer the thin ones over each other for doing multiple colors at one time. But you need specific training in using them properly honestly. A tool is a tool is a tool. And a tool is only as good as the person using it.

Hi Brad if you see this the first cap looks the same as the highlighting cap we had in the 90s in the salon its made of thick rubber which hurts like HELL when you pull long hair through we used to use baby powder to apply the cap otherwise it would hurt the head also those caps were great hardly any leopard spots thats we used to call them back then

Actually using airtouch (wich you should know of, since it became popular about 2/3 years ago) instead of teasing is waaaay easier in when rinsing out the bleach afterwards and you are guaranteed no harsh lines! Even without doing a root shadow, like everybody does: )

I love that brad still tries to pursue every little piece of knowledge there is out in the web. Still trying to improve, still trying to see how other people do things, always open for new and different techniques.
That's how you continue growing!
Love you Brad!

We used a cap like this when learning how to highlight. I'm surprised they never taught us how to balayage. And me and the only other black girl found out there was a secret course just for black hair that we had no knowledge of.

Lol some hairdressers when they do hair like this they charge by the hour as opposed to the work. So i bet the first person purposely did it that way to take longer in the process and charge more

btw, in the free salon education video, I think he is using color optimizing spray before applying the lightener, not hairspray. We have a similar product at my school and it works great: )

I got a weaving comb at my first hair show and I found hand weaving so much easier and faster. It probably would have been easier had I kept using it but whatever lol.

Did anyone find out where to find/buy the feathering comb thing. I think it was in the last video he talked about brad said he wanted one and so do i

The first and third techniques turned out absolutely horrible! Totally like amateurs' jobs. The second, decent. The fourth, absolutely amazing!

Ive yet to see a balayage that i think looks good. Looks cheap to me like someone just let their roots grow out. and people spend how much on this?
reply

I dont approve teasing for bleach, cause afterwards you are gonna have to detangle during its most fragile state of being wet and right after bleach
