Pro hairdresser reviews the dyson airwrap again 3 years later ThisIsMe783: I keep watching videos and trying the airwrap, but I just cannot get into it. I have thick wavy hair and my hair is very textured its never been sleek and smooth without a ton of heat. Ive had the airwrap for about 6 months now and I like the round brush and the paddle attachment and they work well but I can get the same look with my supersonic dryer (which I adore) and a round brush. The curling attachments (I have the 3 smallest long barrels) are where I just dont seem to have any luck, I use heat protectant, mousse, hair oil and Ive tried with my hair more wet vs. more dry I feel like nothing will make the curls last even hair spray after and trying to pin the curls so they cool completely (and I always use the cool shot.
My hair typically holds curl very well, when I curl with a flat iron or conical wand (the main two ways I curl my hair) the curls last for days without any hair spray, the air wrap curls are gone in a matter of hours at best. I get that the airwrap isnt really meant to replace a curling iron as it doesnt get hot enough to give the same results, so I think my expectations were just to big with this product. I dont really care about a tool to do a blowout with since I can achieve that with my blow dryer and round brush, I was hoping the airwrap would give me long lasting curls which I just dont think it can.
Also I was really hoping this would help with arm fatigue as I have limited mobility in my dominant hand/arm due to multiple surgeries and I think it is helpful for that, so I can see why people would like it, the problem for me is the results arent good enough so it totally negates the whole experience when I have to end up getting out other styling tools to fix the airwraps short comings.
Im glad it works for some people and Ill take any tips I can get, but Im starting to wonder if this just isnt the right tool for me and I might need to sell it and move on

If you want decent curls you need the longer length 20mm barrels. Which can be bought from Dyson or are included in the complete long set or fine hair complete set. I would recommend using when your hair is 50% dry rather than the suggested 80%, small sections and curling for longer. Also, rather than releasing by pulling down, turn slightly to release and cup the curl. Leave as long as possible to set before brushing out. It will drop significantly so dont be alarmed if it seems too high. They last for days. Too much hair oil for heat protection makes them drop out quickly. A bit of hairspray is all you need. I think for the more mature lady with thinning hair and wants less damage its a good product. Young women with lovely thick hair not so much.

Maybe for some people:
If you have very thin, but heavy hair like me, you should NOT buy it. Because your hair wont hold curls out of nowhere. In general if you made the experience that your curls hang out 15 minutes after you made curled them with a proper iron, I wouldnt recommend it.
Sadly this is the big downside people hardly ever show. I only a few weeks ago got this information from my hair stylist as I was asking her about it. She actually tried it with me and (surprise) it didnt work. Actually even worse than the curling iron itself

Love the airwrap! But it definitely depends on humidity. I have fine slightly wavy hair that easily holds a curl. I love it in autumn, spring, and winter. During the humid parts of summer my hair falls within an hour. Brought it on vacation recently it was hilarious. Maybe hairspray would help, but my favorite part of the airwrap is that it doesn't take much for me to keep the curl if I do it hot then set with the cool feature. It's something to consider when purchasing depending on where you live.

Firstly Id rather save my money and do my photography course which costs me a grand and Id rather waste my money on food then on a luxury item like this I already suffer from
Alopecia as it is and an air wrap will only pull my hair out even more so no I really dont think its worth the money if you have it then great for you and good on you but its not a must have if you dont have it you wont die without it trust me

I have curly/wavy natural hair and after learning so much about how to take care of curls Ive noticed my hair when its straightened and styled looks and feels so much more like when I get it styled at the salon. It took awhile but I went from chlorine damaged hair that felt like hay and only using argan oil on the ends after styling to having really shiny, voluminous, healthy looking frizz free hair

i need help! so im going to college in the fall and i dont want to invest in so many styling tools so id rather just invest in an air wrap because ive been eying it for a while. my problem is that i have naturally curly hair (7/10 on a curl scale, ringlety but borderline wavy) so im not sure whether to buy it: )
what hair types does this tool work best with? can someone give me some advice?

i'm totally useless with heat tools. i havent figured out the perfect wrist flick to curl with a straightening iron ( just get a ugly kink in the middle, I hate the curling irons with the clip (also end up with a kink, and i burn myself with the wand. This looks so much easier, anyone else useless like me that has used the air wrap? is it easier?

On my thick high density hair it takes forever and doesnt last at all. Blowout lasts me until I wash my hair- 6 days at home no hair spray or mousse anything. But this thing. not for thick hair. I tried it with professionals that work with it 3 times and they fixed it with cold air so it lasts. Doesnt last at all on me: (

I havent seen the option but I wish we would be able to buy the device only with the curling attachments. I dont need all that jazz for this price and I know for a fact that if Id buy it Id never use other attachments anyways. Pls let me know if you feel this way and if you have it, are you using all attachments? X

I think it would be great for people who have symptoms from spinal cord injuries or neurological diseases. Holding onto a curling iron and manipulating the hair, twisting or going over their head to achieve the curls this makes (directional changes of air flow) is difficult with spinal stenosis, arm weakness etc.

Ive recently bought a refurbished model. (Loving the extended year long warranty as opposed to the regular 6 month warranty) The Dyson air wrap is what spray/mist makeup is to doing it manually. It has a learning curve, but once you experience its benefits, you dont want to go back to manual methods.

For me the difference between the firm and soft styling brush heads is the firm one gives me a flat iron finish so very very sleek, where as the soft brush gives me more of a paddle brush blow out finish. I have fine straight/slightly wavy hair.

brad do you think the barrels for long hair are necessary? The wig youre wearing in this video is about the same length as mine and it looks like youre using the barrels from the dyson air wrap complete, not the dyson air wrap complete long

when you hold the brush attachments, can you hold them still and turn it around slowly so I can see it properly lol xx Only because this product is $800 in my country and im considering purchasing it, :) love your vids
