Hairdresser Reacts To People Going From Black To Blonde (and Failing) I am a Curly Haired Queen who is currently on a hair lightening journey. It is being done by my hairdresser, doing multiple sessions with 20 volume. Sessions are separated by 6 weeks. Currently 2 sessions in and we haven't done my roots yet. They will be added to the process this next session. Plus, my curl pattern is holding strong. My Curls are looser, but not completely gone yet. Been doing lots of moisture and protein treatments in between bleaching sessions. Fingers crossed I get the outcome I want by my Birthday next month.

What im about to say I mean with the greatest respect. As a naturally light haired woman yes blonde we have the light hair privilege of being able to change hair colours quite easily. Most of us are fair skinned so you get the benefit with the suffering. If you have black hair, you are of certain ethnicities, or require a weekend stay at the hairdressers to turn your hair ash blonde. im not saying no just have a think. If your hair appt starts at breakfast, skips through lunch and your now at dinner and discussing ordering a food delivery just stop. We all like to live in an equal opportunity hair colour world where we have a dream that one day we all can express ourselves with whatever colour we want. But when your on your 4th pack of bleach and your hair looks like crusty the clown rather than Reese Witherspoon. let the dream die

Both attempts with bleaching I've ended up with a hot roots situation, despite my trying not to, however my biggest fears were: Round 1: Overprocessing and Round 2: Banding (it was a root touch-up.
Was it a little too yellow on round 1? Yes, but I was fine with that - better that than breakage.
Second time, I found applying with my hands way easier, which may be why I managed to avoid the banding.
As I wasn't trying to simply go blonde, rather lightening my extremely dark hair so as to play with bright fashion colours and have them show up, hot roots weren't as big of an issue as the other two scenarios would've been!

Personally when going dark to light ive always found it easier to apply from root to ends in the first round. The whole head processes, you get nice bright (hot) roots, and then in the second process all you have left to focus on is getting the mids and ends to match the roots. The one time I tried doing it the right way I ended up with the craziest banding that took ages to correct. If you're going all blonde I don't see the issue with hot roots because the whole point is your whole head should be lifting to that color anyway lol

I have been obsessed with the idea of doing my hair blue since your last video but after all these bleach fail ones I'm scared to death to try lol. I've been dying my hair dark red for the past 30ish years thanks to going premature grey at a fairly young age. first greys were noticed by my sister when I was 17: /. I think if I get brave enough to go blue I'll get it done professionally, that's if my hubby doesn't freak out at the idea lol

So when it comes to my hair, it is somewhat a dark brown and a I wanna be everything texture. I ve dyed it before fine but to bleach it. I m kinda worried. I ve been feeling safe with a 20 developer because higher numbers it will be orange/yellow before I even get to the front of my head and start to damage. Any advice to be safe to bleach so I can have lovely colors?

I literally just spent the last 4 days removing 2 years of blue/black (I wanted the blackest hair possible) dye to go A natural brown. It took 2 rounds of color remover and 2 rounds of bleach to get it to a copper. Then dyed it back to brown.
I actually watched like 50 of your videos during all these processes. Had minimal breakage and NO hot roots! Thank you brad

I have afro textured hair. The best thing I did was to divide my hair into sections and then bleach it for the same amount of time and use foils for the ends. I started with the back on one day, then do the front section last. It took ages but I lifted it to like a level 7 and went reddish pink. I now just use permanent color and I keep my hair copper red.

This is what I learned from a well-known stylist to the stars - if you re going 2 shades darker or lighter, go ahead and do your own hair color. If you re doing anything dramatic, like dark brown/black to blonde or blonde to dark, see a professional. Also, it takes MULTIPLE sessions spaced out over weeks to bleach from black/dark brown to blonde.

Gotta say I m loving that almost everyone going from dark to blonde ends up joining me in the ginger brigade. As a natural ginger being told in school that nobody likes a red head it s funny that it s these people trying to go blonde that are the ones ending up ginger. These video fails are majorly adding to our numbers

Oo, Brad! The dark slate sides look so good. I think you could really rock a dark shade with silver highlights.
I love your content! I've been watching years. It's really incredible how much you've accomplished.
I can't wait to buy some XMondo products from Sally's. I'm so proud of you.

WHY do they always crumple the foil? I have never seen a colorist crumple the foil. Nice flat foils, small sections of hair and foil folded over the hair. Not crumpled! That is why you should not do this alone at home. At least have a friend help you. Oh well, it's not my hair. Thanks for the video!

You are absolutely makigb a difference, Brad! Ican thank you personally for helping me avoid trying to get my dark brown hair all the way to platinum for silver. i had some subtle highlights and lowlights put in by a professional and do exactly what she says at all times.

Well, I found a random box of bleach while tidying up. I was going to use it for some highlights tonight. Switch on Brad. IT S A SIGN! You saved my hair yet again sir - I m going to go hide the bleach until the next time. Keep being awesome Brad, you re a legend

I loosely braid or twist mine into one inch sections. that allows me to apply evenly and in small sections. i split the one inch sections into smaller sections and continue until its all coated. Also i use a bleach free lightener with 20 volume developer.
