You need to coat your model's hand in petroleum jelly (a thin layer) so that the casting material doesn't stick to her skin. For a smoother mix of the alginate, you need to pour the powder into the bowl, then add the warm water while whisking them together. A smaller bowl will help to minimize the amount of bubbles that will form as you mix as well. (And Dawn won't have to worry about being splashed) After you've removed the models' hand from the casting material, coat the inside of the cast with talcum powder before pouring the silicone into the form. Make sure to remove all of the excess talc from the form, then SLOWLY pour the silicone into the mold. The talc will help make it easier to pull the sample from the casting material. If you pour the silicone using a thin stream, it will help to reduce the number of bubbles in the final form as well as less lumpage.

Omg I am ordering some of this today. I have been looking for something like this. Had a dbl mastectomy and need some form filler for the divot left. The prosthetic doesnt fill in the empty space. Cant wait to try myself. Just a word of advice pour liquid into powder slowly while using a whisk to mix it until its lump free. Bang bowl few times to release bubbles. one post said to brush it one the hand first which would be better than trying to do a plaster mold while lying down. Im so stoked to try this. I will be using the mold a willy plastic. Cant wait to see the finished product. I love your videos. My husband thinks Im crazy. You are a joyful wonderful person who always brightens my day. Thanks for sharing yourself so openly. Oh yeah thank the dildo lady.

Hi hun, I used to be a dental nurse so worked with alginate a lot. It can be tricky. I used a flexible bowl and flexible spatula to mix. If the room was warm I would use cooler water but if I wanted it to set quicker then I would use warmer water. Use colder water which will give you more time and press the mixture against your bowl which will help prevent air bubbles. The stirring motion you used put more air into the mixture. You might be able to grab alginate bowl & spatula online. I think your amazing. (I'm a dog groomer originally from Scotland but now living in Germany, but I love love nails) Lynn. xoxo

I made a face cast from plaster bandages and plaster Paris. Use Vaseline to protect the skin and all little hairs that might be there. Cut stips of the bandages and wet them but make sure they are not dripping wet. Place them on the hand and wrap the fingers them when dry cut the hand out and seal up the hole with more bandages. Lube up the new mold with Vaseline then Mix some plaster and pore itinto the bandage mold then when dry you have a perfect hand replica. Or you could use that stuff from the Willy molder kit. YouTube had lots of mold making tutorials

Get the old-fashioned egg beater (the one with the crank that turns two whisks) or an electronic hand-held blender. Either of these items would mix the lumps right out of your mix. Then tap the container the hand is in with a large spoon (or something decently weighted, like a drum stick) for a solid minute or two to get the bubbles to the surface. Molds can be extremely temperamental. It is like baking. Heat and humidity play big roles. so every time you do this, it will respond a bit differently.

OMG this was so funny to see. I still should have my guide books and DVD on how to make human body parts. I used to make faces and hand's and full arm's and legs and ears and nose too for Halloween when I was very young. I used to sell them. Maybe I should get back to what I used to do. I used to have so much fun and I love it when I used to scare people. I hope it works out for you. I don't know why they gave you the thumbs down. I guess we all got haters out there. Many blessings

I haven't watched through the whole video yet I'm at the part where you poured all the alginate into the bucket. I work in a dental office and when we use algebra it literally has to be smushed in pressed nicely to make it smooth. I saw lots of lumps and bumps when he poured it. My guess is it's going to make a bad impression but we will see I'd like to see how my guess is aligned with what really happened

I used one that was seaweed based on a project I did in University a few years ago and it worked fantastic. I was trying to get a replica of my hand made in butter. (I know it sounds gross. It did cause some suction but it was the moulding alginate that worked really well and it was from the craft store, I think I used a whisk though.

i have alginate superior skin safe chromatic colour changing mould i am doing the right measurement says 20 - 23 c im not sure temperature without testing it but its not working for me: ( it gets lumps that go rubber before can smooth out i have liquid stuff silicone rubber that works lolHELPPPPP
