Today were going to check my poorly nail to see how its getting on. So I went camping and trashed my nail again - Im probably the real worst client ever. Ive also split the nail that broke at the weak point of the nail where my natural nail is broke. I then had a little bit of a pick which you shouldnt do - I was very naughty. Im going to remove the gel polish and the acrylic to properly look at my nail and check theres no infection or moisture. It also means I can fix that break properly. Im also going to remove the free edge thats grown out because that free edge creates leverage which can damage the nail more. Make sure theres nothing on the nail or the nail bed that can snag and pull and make sure theres nothing stuck underneath the free edge. With everything now cleaned up and I know I dont have any moisture or infections, Im going to re-sculpt the nail. Im going to clean the nail and then dehydrate the whole nail and the exposed nail bed and prime just the natural nail - dont get it on any skin. Im going to use Natural and sculpt the nail just to the tip - I dont want to extend beyond the finger, this is going to be a super short nail. Ill file the nail to smooth and remove bulk. If you turn your hand upside down you dont want to see the nail extending over the finger. Im going to file down the rest of my nails to make then uniform and fix the split on my pointer finger. Im also going to apply cuticle oil to the skin all around the nail

I dont want to hurt your feelings. but wouldnt it be better if you let it grow out before putting acrylic on it. My nails look like your nail at times. so i leave them alone for a couple of weeks or longer. I also noticed you have swelling and redness around the nail edge. what do you do about that. I've been told it's dermatitis. I think all these products are very drying. Are you concerned about the redness. scares me alittle. My husband picked me upEXEDERM. For eczema and dermatitis. It works very well. I thought better than an antibiotic ointment, which sometimes does more harm than good. because its drying too. I hope i didnt hurt your feeling. not my intention at all. I just wanted your thoughts on the matter. I have also used vitamin E oil. I like it too.

I have half a nail the last time I got acrylic they ripped all my nails in half it was painful having to rip my nails off the nail bed cuz when my nails broke in half they were still attached to the nail bed but not the main part of the nail but after I had stubs for fingers for a few weeks and couldnt itch they grew back perfectly and are now back to normal well almost cuz I got acrylic again last month caught my nail on something and ripped half the nail off the nail bed and when I took the acrylic off that nail I trimmed down the nail no longer attached to the nail bed hence why one of my fingers have half a nail

I can tell you that I to have a similar nail and its on my dominant hand, but mine was a break half way across my nail, completely ripped off and it never grew back so now Ive got this nail Ive got to fix every two weeks cause theres only half a nail to work with and I wear my nails an inch and a half long from free edge. Its been like this for about twenty five years now and you just work with it. Just in case yours doesnt grow back it can still be a beauty, just a DIVA nail always needing attention. #Girls got problems lol the tails from a tech. Good luck with your poorly nail and I hope it grows back.

Christy this is the perfect time to find out if it is psoriasis or an allergic reaction 2 gel polish base coats which I found out is what I am and I would be very encouraged to find something that I'm not allergic to so I can wear my gel polishes I was losing half of my nails not just one like 8 I would get the dryness under my fingernail tip so test some of your base coat gel polishes somewhere on your skin where you're not afraid of it scarring because I also did that and I did it on my wrist and I have still a patch of dryness and redness from the reaction

My finger tips were and are starting to crack everywhere at the tips of my fingers. I took off all my nails because I thought I gave myself an infection. Not knowing what kind of infection I gave myself but after having no nails and my fingertips being so sensitive and hurting I had enough after a whole month then decided to go to the doctor. Don't know if I'm completely happy with what the doctor says but the doctor says I have a lack of vitamin B. Well that's a first I usually have a healthy dose of all my vitamins from all the Fruits and vegetables.

Kirsty. I have exactly the same problem and the same finger. I was playing with a doggy and she pulled the toy i was holding and pulled my nail back. I had sculpts on in hard gel at the time and had a nasty crack all the way across. So i did what you did only i never cut the free edge away from where the nail had lifted then re gelled it only shorter. Ive recently filed all product off the nail. And its still doesnt seem to be re-attaching. Would this be because i never removed the free edge and would you suggest i do that now? Xx

Think you need to file it thiner to get rid of that yellowish skin growing underneath the nail, that is preventing it to reattach properly. Had something similar happen to me once and I file it very thing until all was gone and repeated it until it attached. Mine was a way bigger chunk but it grew back in like 6 to 7 months, not once did it got an infection or fungus, grew normal, just keep filling every time you see the yellow stuff under the nail. It worked for me, but I am no doctor. Hope it heals fast

Gotta be serious here. that looks exactly like my finger ends now that I've become sensitised/allergic to acrylic products I have cringed at your vids for a loooong time because you do all your work without gloves, and it terrifies me that people do this: ( My fingers ended up peeling and bleeding so badly I have no fingerprints left on a couple of them. Please. please, look after yourself, Kirsty. I don't wish what happened to me upon my worst enemy, it's a nightmare. x

Acrylic nails are a known cause of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) in manicurists and clients. The new gel polish ultraviolet (UV)-curable nail lacquers also contain acrylates and have been reported to cause dermatitis of the fingers, palms, and face. Suzie from NCE talks about this on one of her videos. I get it from one of the born pretty gel polish causes my skin under my nail from capping to peel. I just copied and pasted from google a general comment.

I have vitamin deficiency and my nails were not growing so i started taking Biotin which helped alot they grown but they split, chip and break easy too they are so soft and i dont hardly wear nail polish but id like to my question is when you put on fake nails or nail polish does it hurt the nail more? I heard your nail can breath and can cause it to get a fungus or chip more and break.
