Yeah, attention seeking HOT button topic that probably has no basis due to the onslaught of similar estrogen like molecules in almost every food. First estrogen is a derivative of cholesterol like a lot of biological molecules in every plant and animal that you consume everyday. Surprisingly, we evolved to digest food and not absorb it through osmosis like microbes. Then after digestion there is the liver, a workhorse that allows consumption of grams of alcohol, metabolizing it in hours. You might produce a tablespoon of estrogen in your entire life if your a guy. It means any excess and you would know immediately in days to weeks. See Alan Turing. Most plastic is indigestible. Rarely have microbes been found to eat oil, and now some have evolved to eat plastic. Humans do not share any of these capabilities and the bacteria cannot compete in our digestive tract with our evolved micro flora and cannot even adhere to our intestinal lining to form a biofilm.

The whole delivery and approach of this one literally has Alex Jones listeners celebrating in the comments. The conclusion is that we dont really know how bad this problem is, not that western civilization is being feminized through plastic. I definitely believe that there are these harmful chemicals in food grade plastics, and I trust the science that they have negative effects even in small quantities. But how small are small quantities? What quantities are ending up in our endocrine system through average use of food plastics? We dont even know the extent to which the different types of plastics used affect the health implications discussed here. This to me seems like a very specific health and safety concern that needs to be both acted on and researched more, but it is actually insane that some people are commenting as if this somehow proves that fluoride turns frogs gay.

tfw its been like 5 years since people have talked about the feminization of western men and soyboys and only NOW people are concerned. This is why i hate americans, they always push away emerging theories as conspiracies because it's too far fetched for their little brains to handle. This could be said about the quality of municipal tap water amongst many other things. Whether this is a methodical attempt by our governments to gradually subdue the population into impotent couch potatoes that will accept any egregious law is not conclusive but it's hardly out of field considering how the CDC has experimented with ticks on human civilization.

Its unfortunate that we live in an era where our world has been shaped by the convenience of such plastics. Many simply cant afford to ensure that everything they eat is plastic-free, or that the meat they get is from their local butcher, or that their produce is fresh from a farmers market. Those that run the worlds food economy have ensured that ease-of-access and convenience will guarantee them customers, at the cost of our health. They dont care what our food packaging is lined with as long as their pockets are lined with cash. Thanks for this Adam. Id love to see more informative, journalistic, video ventures similar to this

People talk about BPA and BPS but phthalates are just as bad. Phthalates are used in PVC and tons of cosmetics. They can be absorbed dermally. When a woman of child bearing age is wearing Phthalate containing cosmetics, a male fetus is at high risk. Phthalate exposure for male fetuses is proven to reduce anogenital distance, a marker for masculine traits, as well as reduced sperm volume and toxicity of Sertoli cells, responsible for testis development. Phthalates are NOT endocrine disrupters, they dont act like estrogen. They DO act as anti androgenic disrupters though. Oh and yeah, most of your plastic containers have em

Topics like these are so hard to relate to for someone like me. I'm always struggling to eat healthy. Salad is pretty much a waste of money, because there's so little energy in it. Canned foods of every kind are a stable (staple) in my life, as it fits within my budget. I really think the whole power of the consumer to change the behavior of the producers doesn't take into account all the people that just don't have the option of buying that other thing instead of this thing. Instead, consuming responsibly becomes a selling point rather than a way to force the producer to change.

Coincidentally, I just bought a nice set of glass mixing bowls, mainly to store my sourdough while it rests in the fridge. I bought it because some sourdough guru told me to avoid plastic and metal with acidic doughs. Now I'm thinking it may be best to switch away from plastic completely, Switching to glass containers is a no-brainer, but what about things like plastic wrap and plastic bags? Is there an alternative? Things like cut onions, tomatoes, wedges of cheese, etc. seem to require some kind of tight wrapping for the best preservation. What option is there?

Transport doesn't usually have the most impact on a product's environmental impact. Production is the most likely culprit, and in that aspect glass being heavier means more material is being made and thus would indeed have a worst impact, ie increased water usage. But plastic and glass having wildly different production processes might shuffle this one way or another, and I couldn't begin to tell you which way.

Why talk about it as though it should be a choice? The unwanted imposition of hormonal changes on anyone, especially children is nothing more than an assault. It must be dealt with accordingly by the law. Though, this not a criticism of you. I thank you for speaking up about this issue, not just because of the implications regarding our health, because of the implications regarding our environment. Thank you.
