Two FREE meats = four BIG meals

Two FREE meats = four BIG meals FALLEN: My issue with a full raw chicken, especially organic is the price. Especially when you can walk into most grocery stores and get a fully cooked chicken for a fraction of the price.
For instance, a fully roasted chicken at Costco is 7. 99. Or 12. 99 at a grocery store. An uncooked chicken is usually anywhere between 20- 30. (Yes, I know that Costco takes a loss on the chicken, but still. I m disappointed that, like you ve mentioned in the past, the price of home cooking has become almost the same as eating outside.

Trick for trimming intermuscular fat from a flat-ish roast like this: sear it before cutting. You'll get really deep color on both sides without having to do it in batches, and as the meat starts to cook it firms up and pulls back from the fat, making it a lot easier to trim out all the gristly bits. Saw Kenji do this for beef stew once and it was an epiphany for me. 3 pounds of chuck in a single pan without having to worry about fond burning between batches? Yes please!

You do you Adam, and get paid, but as a viewer this video felt really disingenuous compared to your usual content. I didn't feel at all like I was listening to a Ragusea video, I felt like I was watching - well, an ad. And not in a good way. It was so aggressive it may as well have been a broadcast TV commercial.
You make great content and deserve all the money and sponsorships and such but please don't do this sort of stuff regularly. It's really distasteful imo.

Gizzards are a nice cheap meat too. Though they can take some tedious cleaning if it wasn't done thoroughly enough where you got them- Differently colored bitter skin) might be on there, and bits of what seems like the chicken's food. Long cooking is needed too, but the amount of excess cooking they can take makes thighs look delicate. The broth from boiling them is gelatinous enough to solidify in the fridge.

I've had them for about a year now and I'm converting the rest of my family into how much better BB is compared to typical grocery store meats. The animals are treated better and that translates to better taste and nutrition. Also, considering how badly grocery store prices have skyrocketed the last few years, Butcher Box has had the same prices throughout, making it even more of a steal.

Nothing on you, but my golly the way the entire online market is going to high price boutique subscriptions with a website that barely tells you shit.
I'll order my things when I want. And I'll order what I want, no we'll ship you whatever the duck we feel like in some of these boxes.

Shouldn't most of our meals be meatless, beanful, dishes? Why sponsor butcher box for meat on the regular then? Guess Butcher Box pays more than Beaner Package. (But for real, jokes aside, I don't get why a guy like Adam is willing to sponsor such companies, given his philosophy)

have you done a video about acrylamide? it s a chemical that forms when you cook vegetables (mainly potatoes) at high heat and it s a possible carcinogen. the risk is still low compared to something like red meat but i basically live on french fries so it s a little concerning.
reply

Hey Adam, how was the packaging on your butcher box items? I recently stopped my subscription after getting multiple different meats that were not fully sealed in the packaging
Edit: Has this happened to anyone else?

Everyone always says to save your cooking fats, bacon etc. but how do you store them, and how long for? And can you just add new fat to old fat? And what about mixing fats that you're saving? Adam/someone, help!

Not that I typically buy foods on-line to be delivered, but if I were to, I wouldn't take this offer from Butcherbox because I don't eat beef or pork. It would be nice if the free meats in the offer were both poultry.

Do you add the carrot tops and cauliflower leaves in your recipes, cause they are edible. Also you can add a teaspoon of vinegar to you broth as it draws out the calcium in the bones to make it even healthier.

I believe beef tallow was the original deep frying fat of McD's french fries, and they still replicate that flavor in their fries today. Pan frying your potatoes in beef fat will no doubt taste awesome.

Glad you're making your ends, but I'm going to skip this one. Sponsored content leaves a foul taste in my mouth, though I must say I genuinely appreciate how clear you are about the nature of the content.
reply

Damn this ad is so heavy handed and yet still so palatable because it comes wrapped in useful, concise recipes! I hope they paid you super well for this it's how sponsored ads should be!
