I think if dried cranberries, the kind that aren't brittle, made by a famous cranberry company, the one's that are half or better less sugar would up the flavour and dark elegance of this cookie. The dark red of the chewy dried berry would look almost like drops of blood. ..
Sorry, not sorry, I love the taste of dark chocolate with dried cranberries, but not the overly sweet original offering by spraying company.
Only I've no idea how to figure out if the liquid element would need adjustment.

Activated charcoal adsorbs stuff by having an insane amount of surface area. Being in a cookie like that will fill up most of that area with the sugar and butter and stuff.
Plus it can only adsorb stuff recently added to the stomach, so unless you're drinking poison along with the cookie it can't have any effect.
Shoulda used orange candy bits instead of black chocolate on a black cookie. Reeses pieces or orange 'white' chocolate, or similar.

Why not just use black food coloring It can be ordered and even found in some grocery stores. As a longtime ER RN, I've seen activated charcoal vomited up and smeared all over faces and chests after we used to give it by NG tube for intentional overdoses. I cringe at the thought of eating activated charcoal when a much safer and easier solution is available.

This is a hoot! Just curious: What award did your chocolate chip cookies win I ask because my mother's brownies were rated Best in Philadelphia 30 years ago by readers of Philadelphia Magazine (really, so when I hear award winning, I always want to know what the award is (because many folks call their recipes award winning when there were no actual awards involved.

Guys you need to understand eating actvated charcoal can mess with your medications AND its bad for your micro biome as it will strip you of gut bacteria that in most cases you can never get back unless your ready to recive a a fecal donation and transplant

These are beautiful! But activated charcoal can affect A variety of prescription medications including birth control. I would definitely recommend using a different source of color if that's a concern for you, or if you're making them for a crowd

Probably a silly question, but can you substitute the charcoal for the same amount of another powder and keep the rest of the measurements equal I wanna do these for fall and maybe matcha in the spring or ground freeze-dried berries in summer

One of the Relatives, not stating who, had cookies that looked like that. however, their cookies were suppose to be sugar cookies that got way overcooked. Yea, we had to air the house and the cookies went outside smoking as they went.

Personally, and I know it is personal preference, but I HATE flat cookies like this. To avoid this and make more of a thick, cake style cookie, once dough is chilled, roll into balls and chill those further. Then bake. Perfect.

NON charcoal question. you said your disher was just over 1 tbsp and yours has a black handle, but In searching for the same disher from Volrath and Zeroll both were a #30 which is 2 1/3 tbsp. The 1 tbsp is #60. Help! hahaha

Bad idea with the activated charcoal. That stuff will eagerly take in all sorts of chemicals in your system, not only toxins but medications as well. Go with black cocoa or food coloring instead, it's safer.

Chef I have to tell, one Halloween for my son and nieces and nephews I made Boogers on a stick. Cheese Whiz with green food dye and pretzel sticks. They were so grossed out and would not eat any of it

Hello! To all the folks mentioning the possible interactions with prescription medications and birth control, we're including a note on the written recipe regarding these issues. Thank you!

Awesome look. Be careful not to eat this with medications. You should probably have at least a two hour window on either side of consuming activated charcoal and your meds.

Great way to make your own personal snack stash. They look burnt as hell so no one would want to touch them if they didn't know about the charcoal lol.
