This hearty Polish cabbage roll soup tastes exactly like Polish-style cabbage rolls, which makes a lot of sense, since it has all the exact same ingredients. This delicious and comforting one-pot meal of a soup will satisfy your cabbage roll cravings, but much faster, and with less work.

Gotta love when a chef shows you how being human is not a problem like when you manage to remember what you forgot. I have a very fond memory of eating stuffed cabbage for the first time. It was made by a customer of the dry cleaners where my mom worked and where i spent many an afternoon after school. The middle aged woman was extremely pleasant and an excellent cook because I still remember enjoying it immensely and being amazed by it. Making stuffed cabbage is challengeing meaning i've made it too infrequently so this recipe is definitely for me!

I was born and grew up in Poland and I've NEVER heard about cabbage rolls in a soup form: O Definitely something I'll be trying soon!
Also, when it comes to regular cabbage rolls, although they are traditionally served with tomato sauce, in my family they were sometimes served with a creamy Porcini Mushroom sauce instead and I strongly recommend trying them this way! Delicious!

This looks so yummy! With two disabled arthritic hands, only cutting cabbage and onions will be doable. Full meal in a bowl. A TV chef calls thick soups a cross between soup and stew stoups. Love the Fall/winter seasons to slow cook things, working the senses up for dinner!

Oddly enough, I had hoped to find a recipe just like this today. All the ingredients are in my possession, I had planned to make cabbage rolls. But, I really don't want to stand there in the kitchen rolling things all afternoon. So, Thanks!

This could not have come at a better time for me! MiL just said she wanted cabbage rolls, and I said there was no way I was going to spend hours solling up cabbage leaves, but the inlaws both _love_ soup, so this will be _perfect! _

That is extraordinarily Hungarian. If I made it (and I will) I would add some paprika I bet it would also be good With half cabbage and half sauerkraut. I think also I may use barley instead of rice.
I feel inspired today

I would love to try this but, any soup I’ve had with cabbage in it, I didn’t like. And I love cabbage. If my husband says he’d eat, then I’ll make it, because this looks excellent.

I make a very similar recipe but with a tablespoon of olive oil instead of the stick of butter and it’s great, in case anyone is afraid of all that butter. I also use dill and add some vinegar.

hmm i have a pretty similar recepy but it replaces a part of the cabbage with sauerkraut and also some of the beef with chunks of meat oh and some of the broth is replaced with beer

Just made two different batches of cabbage rolls last week, using my Polish grandmother’s great tip of adding vinegar to the tomato sauce they cook in. Makes all the difference!

If you use Short Grain rice instead, your soup will be more creamy and almost porridge like, which I prefer over the more stew like soup you will get with Long Grain rice.

Surprising good eating is the cabbage cores cut info chunks, slowly simmered with a little butter until soft and served with a butter dressing and salt and pepper.

2: 10 We're the Billy Joels of the soup of cabbage rolls. And speaking New York. I guess Chef John here was in a New York state of mind like Mr. Joel himself.

This is screaming for a dollop of sour cream. My mom used to make something like this around wintertime. Definitely scratches the cabbage roll itch

It was looking okay until the addition of the rice at which point it went off the rails. It may be good but it does not look like it so a pass for me.

My great grandma used to make it all the time. It obviously wasn't my favourite thing as a child, but I can't live without it now. I love your videos
