In my town in Oklahoma, US, McDonald's apple pie has four diagonal slits on top, and the ends are open a little, but only a little so the filling doesn't go everywhere haha. Sometimes I see them with closed ends, and the same four slits on top, but horizontal instead. It pretty much goes between those two within give or take a five town radius of where I live

You should re attempt this, but instead of a huge layer of apples, make the whole thing, mound and all, a cake, cut out the lattice, and dig out shallow wells inside each lattice cut out to place the apples in. And coat the edge of the fondant in clear piping gel FIRST, to give it a tiny barrier between it and the apples. I think that may help.

Even though you may not have loved how turned out Yolanda, it still greatly resembles a McDonald's pie haha. I have never gotten one that wasn't a little messy. Not exactly drippy white goo messy, but messy nonetheless. It was a learning experience! Even bad days still teach us something

I know I'm super late but this video made me want a McDonald's apple pie so bad! I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant and there's a snow storm raging outside but I luckily made a quiche for dinner so I had pie dough and apples on hand and decided to make my own. Best decision ever!

Anyone who has ever baked a cake and failed (that includes me, unfortunately many times) knows that its not how it looks that matters, as soon as you cut it no one cares. What matters is that it tastes good and that you put a lot of thought into it. Keep baking, Yo!

Well if it makes you feel any better, yo, I work at McDonalds and happen to know that the pies look exactly like that when they accidentally get wet in the freezer. So basically your cake is super accurate. Good job (:

Why did you just make the cake like you do your surprise ones? Cut the cavities out to put the apple pie filing IN the cake not ON it. That way the fondant doesnt get wet and you still get apple filling with your slice
