Nice. I love the addition of the orange zest. But the band plays Waltzing Matilda, and the old men still answer the call, but as year follows year, more old men disappear. Someday no one will march there at all. Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, who'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me? Im from nz. and they actually tried to make cookies that were easy and fast to make so that they could make a whole heap of them and send them to the people fighting in from nz and aus. and familys decided to make these to kind of lift spirits and bring back memories of there familys. so yeah.

my mum used to make them, coconut don't recall her using it? However my wife is going to make me some in her kitchen in France, all I need to make me now is a good Australian meat pie! Thanks for the upload and to the memory of those poor souls who perished 100 years ago

Can anyone help this Yank with what the golden syrup is? The only thing I can think of would be light corn syrup, but somehow, I don't think that's it. Thanks! EDIT: Never mind. Should've Googled it first. Turns out I can get it here. Thanks anyway!

Being Australian, I've never understood why people try to 'jazz up' simple things like ANZAC biscuits. Keep it traditional! I use my Grandma's recipe and never heard of orange zest going in the mix. Apart from that delish!

Nice one mate. I'm an honourable kiwi and I love Anzac biscuits. You might not have seen the news report that the originals are coconut based or something, but the oat ones are the most iconic. Lest we forget.

Never knew about these until an awesome local coffee shop (Darkroom Espresso in Swindon) opened. One of the owners is Aussie and I think she's the one that does the baking. Anzacs are yummy

I'm a Kiwi (New Zealander) and I love making these every year just cause they're yum and fun to make lol. Never heard of orange zest going in, continuing to look for a more traditional recipe: )
