Fresh from the beautiful beaches of Marathon Akis gives us his delicious twist on a traditional Greek Salad. Crisp veg and sweet tomatoes set against the natural saltiness of capers, kalamata olives and creamy feta cheese. Colourful and aromatic this traditional side dish is good enough to eat all on it s own. For more Greek recipes

No cherry tomatoes, they must be nice chunks of fresh, home grown beefsteak type tomatoes. No bell pepper period. Full slices of the cuke, not halved. Some nice, crispy, not overly hot pepperoncini is good. Kalamata olives sliced in half lengthwise. Slices of red onion. Good dressing, good feta and some warm pita bread.

I made it today. So simple and so delicious. It does not compare to the fake greek salad that American restaurants are selling. I have greek friends and they had a good laugh when we went out to eat and we ordered a greek salad. LOL! They said it had nothing to do with greek salad.

I'm normally the guy that makes fun of using local ingredients, because you know that many foreign EVOO will go great on this salad. But in this case you must really use real Greek feta. Those German and Dutch imitations that you find on supermarkets are not even close

Ive been to Greece a dozen times and lived there at one point for 3 years and I ve never seen capers or fresh herbs used anyways dry rigani or dry basil and I never seen cherry tomatoes used. But I m from the south (Peloponisos) so maybe this is a Northern version.

Gosh, that was a beautiful salad. I have never had capers or feta cheese before. I am not sure the olive oil would be good for my diet, but I really want to try this salad!
