Today I am cooking at home and making homemade crispy bunuelos with syrup. It would not be a holiday celebration, in my house without bunuelos. INGREDIENTS 3 cups all-purpose flour (410 grams flour) 1 tsp baking powder (4 grams baking powder) 1 tsp salt (5 grams salt) use salt of choice 1/4 cup lard or shortening (60 grams) or (59 ml) if using oil 8 oz cinnamon tea / hot water (236. 59 ml tea / water ) oil for frying FOR TEA 1 1/2 cup water 1 cinnamon stick 1 tsp whole anise seed SYRUP 1 lb (454 g) piloncillo 4 cups (946 ml) water 1 large orange (zest and juice) 3 cinnamon sticks 10 to 15 all spice berries 20 whole cloves 1 tsp anise seeds 1 vanilla pod (cut open)
