Click here for more travel food: While spending time in Seoul, South Korea, I was able to eat Korean mandu ) dumplings a number of times. Korean mandu ) are delicious dumplings made with a doughy wrapper and filled with pork and spices. They are then either deep fried as yaki or steamed as the normal kind. You can either eat these Korean street food specialities in soup or just of a plate dipped into a sour vinegar soy sauce. Insadong, a shopping area of Seoul, has a wonderful hole in the wall restaurant that serves extremely delicious dumplings that are worth going out of your way for. There's almost always a line, but it's fully worth it. I ordered the mixed platter that included some steamed, some deep fried, and a few pieces of just steamed pork. They were each mouthwatering good - I know why there's a line out the door everyday When you are in Korea, be sure to eat some delicious mandu

I haven't been there myself, but a couple who has been living in korea for years had made an introductory video on a similar mandu shop and i learnt from there: D Also, as an asian, i've been eating many dumplings/mandu throughout my life and it was never really a tradition to cut them up. But it's ok, enjoy them whichever way you like (:

hello mark, Can I recommend some dumpling restaurant? If you come seoul again sometime You should go 'Johnny dumpling' at itaewon(seoul) this is not korean food but chinese style dumpling. It is BEST dumpling in korea I think. Half steamed half fried, so juicy sooooo delicious. and there are prawn and pork inside together.

Hey Calvin, that money for 2? I spent about USD 30 per day when I was there. Accommodation and food is quite expensive. For Seoul it may be a good idea to book something at least for the first few days when you arrive, and then from there you can walk around and look at other places you may want to stay at.

I was fortunate to be able to live and work in Seoul from January of 1980 to April of 1983. Korean food is amazing, as are the Korean people. I married a Korean woman I met, there. She makes the best mandu on earth

I think the dumpling shop should be the heaven place if not the street foods. Street foods are all about carb and salt but I would strike the entire street food vendors end to end like no joke.

Yes, you can definitely go to Korea and not speak Korean and have a great time. To be honest I know about 3 words in Korean. I was only there for a visit and I had no trouble just getting by.
