This Sichuan hot pot in Taipei was amazing my Taipei Travel Guide for Food Lovers: Day 9 in Taiwan, Ying and I decided to take a relatively easy day by going to a few museums, and doing something Ive wanted to do for a long time, eat a Sichuan hot pot. 0: 26 Miniatures Museum of Taiwan The first place on our agenda for the day was a quick stop at the Miniatures Museum of Taiwan, a small private museum of models of famous buildings and architectures, especially European and English style. The museum was alright if you like to see models and the models were incredibly well detailed and very well done. Overall, it wasnt really my style of a museum though, so we just spent a few minutes there and then it was time to eat lunch. 1; 39 Old Sichuan Hot Pot - Incredible Meal After a quick search, I noticed there was a Sichuan hot pot restaurant located just around the block from the Miniature Museum of Taiwan, and so we headed right there as they opened to have a Sichuan hot pot meal experience. The restaurant was very nice and well decorated, a real nice place. I wasnt sure how expensive it was going to be, but we just decided to go for it and have lunch. Our water didnt really speak English, so it was a bit of a challenge to order, but luckily they had pictures of the different plates to order, and from there they served everyone the same due of soups for the hot pot. Sichuan hot pot is a bit different from other types of hot pot because of the soup. The soup contained a lot of Sichuan pepper corns, which are little berries that have a numbing effect on the mouth and tongue as you eat them. Along with the boiling broth, we ordered a plate of beef, pork, and a plate of fish and vegetables. My first experience with eating a Sichuan hot pot was amazing, and my mouth stayed numbing and tinging for our entire meal. It for sure made me crave more Sichuan food and I cant wait to visit Sichuan hopefully in the future. Our Sichuan hot pot meal was a bit on the expensive side, but the quality was fantastic and it was well worth it. 7: 30 Confucius Temple A few days before Ying and I had tried to visit the Confucius Temple, but unfortunately it was closed on the day we went. So since we werent too far, we decided to go back to the Confucius Temple. It was very quiet, and we just browsed around for a few minutes. 8: 17 Taipei Fine Arts Museum Our final stop of the day was a visit to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, a museum showcasing contemporary Taiwanese art. The museum was quite interesting if you enjoy modern art, and for the price it was worth visiting. Pretty tired and feeling amazing after that Sichuan hot pot, we went back to our hotel and called it a day. It wasnt a very long Day 9, but it was very good - an amazing meal

Hot pot is one of my favorite Chinese food I usually don't eat spicy food, but Sichuan Hot Pot is just so numbing and delicious that it has to be an exception. Love your videos, Mark Your happiness when eating food is for sure genuine. All the different dishes are making my mouth watering. I do hope that you can describe the dishes in more details though.

I'm sorry but I have watched so many of Marks videos, some twice, and I'm starting to really wonder how much Ying has a say in what they do each day. It seems he makes all the plans (which revolve around eating, or sightseeing at historical places for the most part) and Ying just follows along and maybe gets to film him eating. What year is this?

yes, I agree. I've yet to try a hot pot, but here in the US Asian food (aside from chinese) can be somewhat pricey and hot pots are usually for two or more. I'm married to someone who is not an adventurous eater. one of these days I'm going to splurge. meanwhile, I love watching Mark and Ying enjoy themselves.

Great video Mark Tip for hotpot in the future, put the meat in first then towards the end of your meal put the veggies in as they tend to soak up all the flavor of the soup. If you put veggies in at the beginning they will bland out the soup. Great job and keep up the good work

I've got the impression when he's describing the Taste's of some of these meals he's eating that if he doesn't really no how to describe the flavour he will just think of a word that pops into his head I've eaten exactly the same meals as him and I beg to differ about the Taste's

Joel is so disgustingly in love with Mark W. that he mimics each and every putrid movement and action that he makes It's pathetic to be so enamored with a freak, that you have to act like one yourself. Grow-up Joel and become your own sad, little man

If the dish is made with black pepper, red pepper, Szechuan pepper, vinegar, dark soy sauce then someone is trying to mask the taste and smell of spoiled or rotten meat. You are the Jim Carrey of foodies and an insult to everyone else on this planet.

I would love to experience eating a hot pot meal with wagyu beef but I dont have any restaurants that serve this in my area so can someone give me the recipe for spicy and regular broths and what ingredients to prepare aside to it? Thanks in advance

It's def ironic. I was hoping to see you eat Sichuan too bc you handle spicy very well. Thanks Food for thought: from all over the world, you ever wonder what people think when they see the amount of chili you consume? It's nuts Keep it up, Wiens
