SUBSCRIBE NOW Read my blog about Vada Pav: Day 3: Mumbai, India - To begin the day we took a quick trip to Elephanta Island to see the Elephanta caves. We then came back to Mumbai, and had amazing Bombay duck at Gomantak restaurant, and then proceeded to have one of the greatest Mumbai street foods, called vada pav. 00: 22 Elephanta Caves (boat ride 180 INR (2. 69) - One of the worthwhile attractions in Mumbai is the Elephanta Caves, which are a series of historical religious temple caves located on an island off the coast of Mumbai. To get there, you can take a boat from the Gateway of India. We decided to go there first thing in the morning to try to avoid the crowds. I thought it was well worth it. 6: 56 Gomantak Boarding House (Dadar West) - One of the top Mumbai foods I wanted to try when I was in Mumbai was Bombay duck, also known and bombil, which is actually not duck at all, but lizardfish. We took a taxi to Dadar West and went to a restaurant called Gomantak that specializes in Malvani cuisine (from the area of Mumbai) and always has Bombay duck on their menu. I ordered the Bombay duck fry, fried pieces of lizardfish that came with the full thali set, including rice and a few curries and chutneys on the side. I also couldnt resist ordering a side dish of pomfret masala. One interesting thing from this amazing Mumbai restaurant was solkadhi - made from coconut milk and kokum fruit, and it was my first time to try it

Mark, Thank You for a very interesting video. You amaze me by visiting places where no other foreigner may go. As an Indian, I can tell you that I am proud of Mumbai, my motherland and the city where I pend all of my childhood. BTW, for your information Bombay Duck is a fish not a lizard and the peculiarity of it is, it is found nowhere in the world except Mumbai. Once this was also a question on Jeopardy TV show ( what is a Bombay duck.

Wow, Mark has really showcased the good side of Mumbai, foodwise But tourist-wise, he might have been scammed in a couple of places. Esp that roasted corn This guy is a great ambassador for food. The expressions on his face make you want to try that Bombay duck, that vada pav, that Bagdadi food

I lived in there for 5 years. Food is different for hindus and muslims over there. Hindus mostly are vegetarians. Muslim eat non veg. Hindus eat too many sweets. I didn't like food over there to be honest but i like gol gappe.

Hi mark and Ying, so what I have gathered is it rains a lot, you get overcharged as a foreigner, roti are going to be on point almost every time, bottle water comes with a seal around the lid. People dont smile to much.
