Based in the neighborhood of Boyle Heights in Los Angeles, people come far and wide for the tacos at family-owned Carnitas El Momo, and its beloved owner, El Momo. The carnitas are made from pork which confit in pork lard and are made up of pork butt, stomach, and skins. These loaded tacos, topped with grilled onions and pickled vegetables, are a labor of love from El Momo, who learned how to butcher and prepare pigs in Mexico from his father before he immigrated to the United States to work as a welder. After sustaining a work injury, El Momo went back to his culinary roots and started making carnitas full time in East LA. Today, with help from son Billy, El Momo-s has won taco contests with dishes like migajas (burnt ends) tacos, and mulitas (similar to a quesadilla. El Momo-s legacy has no end in sight, and the family works hard to provide positivity and refuge for the community it serves

Awesome story! His dad started it and his son taking it to another level! Made me remember me of my pops. He had his own business too. Tried to show me his ways but I wasn't having it. To much caught up in that fast life fast money and fast cars. Non of that got me far. Now how I regret not learning what he was trying to pass down to me. It's to late for me cause he's gone from this world. And now I just work a regular ass job. I could of been my own dam boss like my primo here! May your business thrive homeboy!

Your parents are pretty much the definition of Mexican parents. This is what all of our daily lives look like just trying to survive and still help people out. This is what we-re about don-t let them say otherwise. We-re a good people and if we all stay together doesn-t matter your color or Ethnicity take all that aside and we can all Live as Humans

After watching this video last week and being born in Michoacan. I went today to try them out. Those two mix carnitas tacos were the best I have eating in my 40 years living in Los Angeles. Very close in taste to the carnitas tacos of Quiroga, Michoacan.

All kinds of tacos are good but if some one especially in one in particular. Thats when you try the best of the best. I dont eat pork as many as the viewers here, yet the ethics, love and passion of everyone makes me imagine that the food is delicious!

There is a great taco doc series on Netflix. There's this carnitas episode and it's crazy how they do it in Mexico with no electricity. This old man was picking the meat up out of that huge boiling pot with his bare hands.

Vice is a race baiting SJW rag that does more harm than good. BUT. This content is great. What a family. So close and honest with each other and making creative seemingly delicious food that they could charge triple for.
