Cooking SKILLS I wish I learned sooner with recipes! rowan: a little sour boosts salt taste. saute herbs in a little oil. you need far less oil than you think. heavy stainless steel pans - thin ones go from coold to burn really fast. medium / fino sherry add so much to food. For me I like caramelized onions very brown. Deglaze the pan and use the yummy brown stuff.

I wish I had learned how to meal plan with my leftover produce that was bought for a particular recipe and not all consumed. I think also learning about the different types of mold and how to store items properly to prevent waste and know what is still safe to eat is a big one too. A lot of times you can cut off a bit of mold (depending on the type) and you ll be fine, maybe just with a belly ache and then you know to toss whatever it was.

I found a big thing for me (that the video touched on) is relaxing and not really being super strict but just do the process as I like it and cook it how I like it.

Soaking pulses in water before cooking. Different pulses and rice varieties may require different amount of time to be soaked in water. Changing water in between soaking if required. Can also make black grams, green beans and even black beans sprout by exposing them to fresh air after soaking them: )

I have learnt that you do not need a specifically gluten free recipe and I can adapt non- gluten free recipes with gluten free ingredients. Also just to use my own senses in the kitchen to tell when something is cooked or not rather than always relying on the instructions!

Great video. Please can you recommend gf flour alternative without corn.
Wish I had learned how to use a pressure cooker sooner. So quick for steaming potatoes, cooking soaked pulses, and they taste so much more delicious than cans. Plus better for the planet.

I just love your videos! I started watching before I became vegan and now that I m vegan I appreciate your videos/recipes even more! I would love to see more videos like this where you teach us about different cooking skills and techniques.

My first tip is: Always read the recipe all the way through - not just the ingredients. Sometimes there are hidden instructions like - marinate over night, or let rest in the refrigerator (make sure you have room in there) etc.
