As a swede that has made probably around 100 princess cakes in my life, I approve.
I'm proud of the boys. I mean they did everything slightly wrong, but they got there in the end, and I bet they tasted great!
I have seen waaay worse looking home baked princess cakes in my days. Also, although I see myself as very experienced at making princess cake, I have NEVER made my own marzipan!
I buy the marzipan ready made and already green, and just roll that out, so I am impressed that they did that. I mean it didn't look professional, and the shade of green is all wrong, but impressive nevertheless
All stores in sweden carry all the parts for this cake, so you can just slap it together. The cake, already cut into three layers. Instant custard cream, and pre-rolled green marzipan that you just take out of the package and drape over the cake. That is the most common way for people to make this cake in sweden I think.
Also, you can buy the cake finished and decorated in all stores, and also as separate slices. They are EVERYWHERE. That is how common this cake is here. It is kind of crazy, and also a little bit boring sometimes.

My vote's for Jamie. Was really impressed with his leaves and the contrast in color between his leaves and the marzipan (plus his rose wasn't so bad for someone who didn't know to roll up a piece for the center to give better structure)
Based on the video editing, he also made fewer mistakes. but that also meant he took fewer risks. Overall, great job to both!

As a Swede who has grown up with eat this cake alot for birthdays, celebrations, confirmation and so on. I can see alot of flaws with how they did it. One thing thats sticks out is the green colour of the marzipan, think they went in with a bit too much of the food colouring. But to my taste and not being able to taste them, I think Jamie won this one.

Its sometimes a bit embarrassing how little the Normals learned in certain areas. all of the Individual Parts are not that hard to make and iam pretty sure the normals did all of them multiple times already: P We need the Brownie Points back so they are more motivated and place 2 and 3 need to be punished with Food Hell! ;)

I think the guys made two perfect English Prince Cakes. A good recreation of the Princess cakes. Also I think for this one occasion a draw is the right decision.
Could you do a recipeless challenge using tempered chocolate? I would like to see the normals temper chocolate before using it

Never disappointed, ever! Not once during this pandemic have I ever doubted that I would be entertained by Sorted! Thank you for being a bright spot to these dreary times. And to Jamie. what has happened to your pants (13: 02?

I say well done boys! I know you knew a lot of the recipe but went blank and I can totally relate. They are far from perfect but you both stayed positive the entire time (confused but positive)

I totally agree with what they decided, Barry's is more similar to a traditional swedish princess cake in the ratio of cake to cream but I preferred the look of Jamie's. It's a tough call to make!

That would make most chefs or pastrycooks shake in their boots making that. It would make me shake in my boots. I have made most of the ingredients in that cake but that's frightening
