that really should've been an easy win for jamie. i honestly thought he was going to get that win with the way both james and ben were describing his dish, even with the under seasoned rice comment.
and yes, they were absolutely wrong on this: first of all, mike didn't even really finish his dish, because who eats curry with 1/4 of a flat bread, budget or no? and barry's looked fine, but i don't consider a meal a meal without some kind of carb. there was no rice or pasta or anything, so it looked more like a lunch, and the fact that he didn't come in under budget kind of ruined his chances for me, personally. cause he could've gotten cheaper sausages, and the pimped them himself. it would've given him money to spare and a better dish.
no, you chefs are wrong on this. jamie really shoud've gotten the win here.

These budget videos need to start at the store buying the ingredients for 10 quid.
I officially do not believe that the ingredients for Jamie's could be purchased for that little, and I'll even concede the rice, eggs, sugar and soy sauce as pantry ingredients. Carrots, bean sprouts, mushrooms, cucumber, steak, spinach, spring onion, gochujang, sesame oil, coriander, garlic, and I think I saw some ginger go by but we'll pretend that was garlic. And not Barry either; quality sausages, onion, beans, tomatoes, PARMESAN, lemon, garlic, rosemary, WHITE WINE. This is a budget meal, you have to account for the purchase price, not the use price, and no fair assuming that ANYTHING is in the pantry, except maybe salt and pepper.
Edit: Nope on Mike's being six quid, too, but maybe for 10.

To me, Jamie would have won for the looks. I would be proud to have something looking like this midweek. I can't say anything about the taste obviously but imagining a bowl like this after a long day, just the appetizing look alone would put a smile on my face and get rid of some of the days stress. Also this Dish really seemed rather easy to recreate which is a huge plus midweek. In addition even for a first time cooking Jamie really looked calm and collected doing stuff right and wrong.

I would have voted for Jamie! That was an amazing meal in every sense: well balanced, visually appealing, tasty and inexpensive. I really don t know how Mike got Ben s vote with a tiny piece of flatbread on the plate and a dish that I found lacking in almost everything, since most of the flavor basically came from the curry powder.

Heya Chef's! Have you ever tackled FODMAP meals? As a big IBS sufferer, I really struggle making tasty meals, there's plenty of cookbooks out there but none that. inspire me. So just curious if you've ever had to cook under those restrictions! (Or maybe, are there any FODMAP friendly meals on the app. Thanks for reading! :D

I think eastern-european cuisine would be ideal for this. Like - polish kopytka dumplings. Just cooked, cooled potatoes, egg, flour. You can add mushroom sauce or some meat. For 10 pounds there would be 10 delicious portions xD Or russian blins! Or chech goulash with knedliky! Cabbage rolls! Langos! Borscht! :D

By the way, I just realized, you guys didn't mix together what's on the bibimbap. It's meant to be mixed first with the gochujang/red chili paste before you eat it. Maybe that's why Jamie lost? It's mixed rice after all. But well plated, Jamie. Despite the sacrilege on the rice, I'd like to still try that.

#justiceforjamie he presented four full portions that could be personalized to each person's liking, did a recipe that was new to him and had a good attitude throughout, budgeted his ingredients cleverly and the only thing wrong with his was his rice was under seasoned! Robbed!

Poor Jamie. The bibimbap did look delicious (though I'd love do a veggie edamame version, but for me it's just way too many dirty dishes for a mid-week meal. I live by myself so I'll bulk cook (ie. a standard family size recipe) and eat leftovers most of the week.

YES IT'S THE RETURN OF THE HEAD TO HEAD TO HEAD BATTLE!
I can't get over how gutted Jamie looks at the end. Missing some gochujang in the rice and for goodness sake, don't boil the rice and drain it! Haven't you guys seen Uncle Roger's videos yet?
