I guess I don't consider a lot of these as hacks. To me, hacks should be something that is unconventional, and not commonly used. A lot of these are basic knowledge. If you ever read the ingredient of baking powder, it tells you that it has baking powder and cream of tartar, so that is not a hack. Plus, like Rie said, cream of tartar is not a common item in the pantry, and baking powder is in the same aisle as the cream of tartar. lame. Crumb coat has been done since. forever. Anyone who loves to make layered cakes knows about crumb coats. Not new or anything unheard of. Separating eggs with shells is also extremely common, but actually has a higher risk of breaking the yolks due to the sharp edges of the broken shells. Not a hack. Toothpicks and floss is also an old trick, not a hack. Moisten cake is also nothing new, people have been doing this for ages. Not a hack. Using a hot knife to cut is also super common. not a hack.

We use the egg freshness hack at home and it works well. It has three stages though and eggs do not go off quickly. If it stays on the side it's super fresh, if it stays on the bottom but kinda stands on its bum parts, it's older but still edible just use quickly, and it floats it's actually not good to use anymore. So the older eggs in the video were probably not old enough to be off.

The fabric strip should be soaked in water and then squeezed out before you put it around the cake tin: ) That way the cake bakes evenly around as the outside doesnt bake as fast before the rest of the cake, helping it stay moist and prevents it drying out It also helps with levelling the cake so it doesnt get the dome effect Love seeing these types of videos

About the egg floating hack; it does actually work, since a rotten egg will have gas in it, meaning it will float. HOWEVER, the expiration date on eggs is usually ridiculously early, so an 'expired egg' will still be fine. As demonstrated by it floating. I have done this test with eggs that had actually been rotting and trust me, it works.

The fabric strips were suppose to be soaked in water before theyre put around the pans. I use them often and the cakes bake evenly and dont dome much so you dont have to level much off the cakes to make them even. I recommend the strips but it just takes longer to bake. Cakes come out softer.

The old egg floating in water is real because theres an air cell in eggs, and as the eggs age that air cell gets bigger. As the egg ages, moisture and carbon dioxide leave through the pores of the shell, air enters to replace them and the air cell gets larger allowing it to float.

Rie Love ur vidsNot sure if u did but the fabric strips need to be soaked in water before u put it on ur pan. There is another hack where u can use paper towels and foil to makenur own strips It makes an even and prevents the crusting around the cake: )

The cake release works best when used in a buntt pan. Especially the complicated ones. Be precise about getting in every detail and it will release perfectly everytime The liquidness helps fill in details better then just butter and flour or Pam.

wait, Hack 4 is real, if the egg is rotten and not edible anymore it will float, because the egg will produce gases inside, this is why it will float. So if the packaging of the box said its expired, it might still be edible, if it sinks though
