Oh, the different cultures. Here in Brazil we have an amazing side dish called farofa which consists of manioc flour toasted in butter and mixed with bacon and caramelized onion + diced bananas! It's so f delicious.
I find it weird people putting avocado on a sandwhich (and that's pretty common in Mexico/USA) and eating it as a savory ingredient, in Brazil we eat it as a dessert or even as a shake (with suggar and milk) lol.
Bananas are pretty okay and a delicious contrast between sweet and savory.

I feel like the original recipe could have been pretty good if it was executed properly and maybe even interpreted differently.
If banana was replaced with plantain and the ham, which can be interpreted in many ways because pork, was replaced by bacon (because easy crowd pleaser in middle America) and was prepped with care and skill I could see the original recipe being better than palatable.

This actually sounds delicious I am hungry now.
The original recipe I mean, yours is way too ordinary. Even though I have never had bolloniese sauce (I m sorry I don t know how to spell it. And I would change the American mustard to an Indian mustard (That khaki colour one I mean, since I find American version disgusting.

You literally swap the holondaise sauce with a BUNCH of whipped cream, top it with some salt, pepper and yellow curry powder. Then you bake it for maybe 30 min or until the top is pretty brown. Eat it with some rice like uncle ben s. It s very nice and one of my grandmothers most famous meals.

Well done Alix, wonder what it would be like if you used plantains and did the twice fry trick to them fry, smoosh then fry again and put it on your sandwich also to me pork and bananas begs for some very thin sliced grilled pineapple. Just thinking out loud. :)

I honestly believe that green, very green bananas were used in this recipe, originally. Green bananas are used to cook with in Hispanic/Latinex dishes as a starch. Green bananas are not sweet.

All you need to do is spread some peanut butter and nutella on a piece of toasted bread, then add some thin banana slices on top of the spread.
