Diying viral pinterest home decor - embossed wood dresser (ikea hack) Lone Fox JohnPaul: Back in the mists of time when I was a boy, lol, this kind of anaglypta wallpaper was so popular among the working classes because it brought a hint of luxury without the high end price. My parents were obsessed with it. And yes, it can be a chore to paint over due to the embossed design. You have created an item of furniture which you'd be hard pressed to know had come from IKEA, with the added bonus that it is now unique. I love the colourway and the brass effect cup handles. it is a first rate piece of furniture to be proud of. Well done. x

Absolutely incredible! I do have a question though. After you mod podged the wallpaper to the drawers fronts, and let them dry, did you go back over the edges with another layer of mod lodge to seal them down? Especially after sanding the beveled part. Did the wallpaper adhere ok, or did you have to reinforce anywhere with any more mod podge? I hope that question makes sense. And, if I would put a little extra mod podge on (because Im OCD like that ) do you think that the paint will stick? Thank you! You did an absolutely marvelous job!

Your idea of drilling through one drawer to get the perfect alignment for the holes in the next drawer is inspired.
I think I would paint the sides of the drawers, too, so it has a more finished look when you open them.

13: 40 The poles on the back of the handles are supposed to go into the holes where the screws come through. They stop the handles from moving. Anyway that is what I do and I am pretty sure I am right?

I just purchased this wallpaper in Australia (with the idea to do the exact same thing with a couple of vintage dressers I have) it retails for around $100 per roll so you scored a bargain Drew: )

This wall paper brings me back to my childhood as my parents had this wall paper! I'm sure they had this for a good 20 years before redecorating the house! It's nice to see it again!

How water-resistant this kind of decoration. From time to time you need to clean your furniture to remove dirt, fingerprints from them. I don't think painted wallpaper fit the purpose.

Hi, I was looking for a way to change my old walnut colored china closet to a light color to match my dining table. Thank you for a wonderful idea. You are so good. Love ya.

When I paint/stain IKEA stuff, I do the painting/staining before I put it together. You so think like me. Great upgrade design. You rocked it! Thanks for sharing.

I have done this on a dresser and wardrobe cabinet. I also spruced up the breakroom by putting it on the ceiling. Big bang for not much cash.
