For portable commode we bought a walker for invalids at the flea market for $7. Positioned the walker like a chair placing a 5 gal bucket in the center on the ground. We also purchased toilet seat made for the bucket. The walker folds up for storage and when used for steadying getting up or down is very strong. Kitty litter was used in bucket for odors and removal. Everyone can use the commode with safety and ease. Especially me. I suffered a broken hip and 2 surgeries a couple years ago. This was our answer for me getting up and down. I love camping and thanks to my daughters ingenious idea we can still camp off grid. I understand a 7 gal bucket is same height as a regular commode but costs $40! The walker was far cheaper and 5 gal bucket free plus it works great.

I prefer to shit in long grass sometimes I get a delightful starfish tickle,
although you have to be cautious because you don't want a stingy starfish from a grass cut.
Avoid stubble fields.

Some of the ideas, I learned in girl scouts. water bottle on tree, we used a stick to plug the hole. Straw saves on water. LOVED THEM all.
