How made a fairy house flower lamp using a balloon as a base, some cardboard for the paper clay and colors. This is a creative way to teach children about recycling and also stimulate their imagination. I started by making the paper clay from the cardboard. It is really easy to make because we only use two ingredients: cardboard and P. V. A. glue (commonly referred to as wood glue, white glue, carpenter's glue, school glue, Elmer's glue in the US. I used an old blender to make it really smooth. I tear the cardboard to pieces and place them in the blender. I add hot water over the cardboard pieces and start the blender. When it looks like a homogeneous mix I squeeze the water out trough a sieve. You should squeeze as much water as you can. I then add the glue. I used about three tablespoons of P. V. A. glue in the video but you should add one spoon at a time and mix it to see if it has the consistency you want, and keep adding glue until the paste is the way you want it. I draw on the balloon where the door and windows will be. The next step is covering the balloon in a thin layer of paper clay. After the paper clay is dry I glue some cardboard details like petals and leaves (you can use tinfoil for this step but, as some of you mentioned in the comments, it is not so good for the environment, and yes, I do read your comments, by the way: D. I covered all the new elements in with paper clay and let it dry. The painting goes like this: I start with the plane colors for every detail like blue petals, green leaves, white windows and later add shadows using diluted brownish colors and lights using light colors or even white to the surface of the texture. I blend them together by tapping the surface where two colors meet. In the end I added a tealight candle inside. It looks awesome as a night light

This is so cute. But what I really love are the fairy & ghome houses you make out of jars & clay. Could those be made using this cardboard plaster to cover the jars and tin foil? Does it crack? I thought it might also give the house a textured look, like stucco? I would find the clay you use to be too expensive I'm afraid, and the same if I made my own, by the time I got all the ingredients. Just wondering if this cardboard paste would work on glass?

I tried this unsuccessfully. I followed everything in the video and description but it seemed that the clay was just too clumpy when you try to spread it on the balloon. Is there a certain cardboard you should use? I used cardboard from shipments and Elmer's school glue. Do you have any tips for me? Thanks

Looking to do this as a group craft. Wondering how long the whole process takes. How long does it take the clay to dry before popping the balloon? How long do you wait until you paint it? Also, about how much cardboard do you use for one? Thanks for sharing!
