I made this fairy tower recycling some cardboard from some pizza boxes I had laying around, a plastic bottle and a carton bucket. I only bought the colors and the hot glue. It took me about five days to finish. I started by drawing and cutting the bucket at the bottom to fit the plastic bottle. I then glued the bottle in place. I glued some cardboard stripes together to make some thicker wooden beams for the roof. Then I made the cardboard roof tiles and glued them in place starting from the bottom of the roof. I added some basic elements like the chimney, the windows and the door. When the basic shape was finished I started adding some rocks at the bottom of the tower. I made those using egg cartons and tearing them in smaller irregular pieces. I added some rocks to the chimney and also made the textured wood using a ball pen and pressing the wooden pattern deep in the cardboard. This texture adds such a nice realistic effect and it helps a lot in the next step when adding color and patina. I started painting by covering the surface in a dark color first. This will serve as a base. Make it go in all the cracks and the deepest holes. It will act like a shadow and contrast layer when we add brighter colors. I add a very bright color, or even white, only to the surface of the texture, gently rubbing the brush with very little pigment so I don't get it in the cracks. On top of that bright color you can add other colors as well. You can make it brighter and more colorful, it's your choice. I made the door red and the roof blue but you can play around with any color combination you like. I hope you liked my video and got some inspiration to start your own projects. Have fun!

I love watching your videos. I've been trying to make some fairly houses. But dang, I'm always burning my fingers with the glue gun. What's your secret? I've built 3 so far and helped my granddaughter with 2 and started one with my grandson yesterday and there hasn't been one yet that I didn't get my fingers burned while building the structure.
HELLLLLLPPPP!

I've watched your videos going on 2 years now, I absolutely love everything you create.
I'd love to see you do something with the long narrow Smartwater bottles and the Body Armor bottles sometime.

Hello I'm trying to make my first fairy house and I was wondering instead of paper clay or patina is it possible to use some plasticine? What do you think? Thanks

Have to wonder how many times I'd burn myself using a hot glue gun that often. With me, it would = many. But its a lovely piece, well done.
