15 - How To Begin A Painting - Acrylic Painting Course SchaeferArt jules: Also, raw sienna, burnt sienna and titanium white produce a beige to warm brown which heightens cool colours and retains high key. This ground is useful for all types of painting, including landscapes, still life and figure painting. this grond and the mix of ivory black etc. will help produce mid tones and optical greys by scumbling over certain colours. Well, I am still working hard to understand all of the elements that are involved with painting. Still cannot get acrylic clouds, oils ok. crazy

Great tip, I found that when I use different ground colors unifies the painting by providing a common value and colour to subsequent layers of paint. For ex: burnt sienna and burnt umber give a warm ground, useful for predominantly low-key pictures heightened by dramatic light areas of dense pigment. A mix of ivory black and titanium white heightens warm colours and gives a silvery, high-key appearance to a painting. Ideal for paintings in which greys predominate, for ex: winter landscapes.

These videos are awesome! And really helping me to understand the basics. Thank you so much and keep being awesome!
If I may give some constructive feedback I would improve lighting in your videos.

It would be better if an acrylic medium is used to tone the canvas instead of water. Acrylic molecules/polymers do not bond well with water molecules.

There's so many styles and it depends on what you like. I've even tried a buck Paulson style painting and it turned out ok.
