Mannequinization - Drawing Example 3 - Proko
video description
Also, in my opinion, the mannequin is used just to establish the overall volume of the figure, whereas the gesture is used to establish the movement or -life- of the figure. With that in mind, I don't really think it's entirely correct to call the mannequin a -3D gesture-(especially since you kinda have to think in 3D for the gesture anyway, but there isn't much of a point in arguing semantics here.

There's a book I'd recommend: 'Drawing the Head and Figure' by Jack Hamm.
It's done in a cheesy 1940's style, but despite that it's the drawing book I have ever seen. It's full of schematic tips on how to draw all parts of the body as well as having an excellent short section on wrinkles in clothing. I got it dirt cheap on Amazon -4$!
Happy sketching.

Thanks for your video. I watched and practive your gesture drawing videos, practice this, which was very helpful. But how dows Mannequinization fits in this technique? Each of your video is very helpfull, but is there a walk trough demo from gesture to rendering to get an idea of the complete drawing process? Many thanks.

There's a really simple trick for hands that should improve your drawing (at least a little bit) right away.
First draw a -D- shape for the palm; then after that, draw the thumb and index finger -before any of the other fingers-.
One you get the relative positions of those two digits right, the rest is MUCH easier.

Have you considered a paypal button?
You know, for those of use who are too flat ass broke (at least for the moment) to splurge on your premium content, but feel guilty about not giving you anything for all your superb free content?
I feel like I'm getting quite a lot of something for nothing.

Two thousand views.
Hm, a paypal account could really be a good idea. If only half your viewers gave you a buck, that would still e pretty decent compensation for your effort. I'd give at least a few dollars per video.

Mr.
Wow! That was deep man, I'm not quite ready to try this yet. I tried to draw my face the finished product was great but it didn't look much like me. I hope to try this in the future when I'm more experience.

Pretty sure he said before he was going to do full anatomy lessons, he needs to establish the basic construction of the body like he did with the head before moving on though.
