I am completely new to drawing and am wondering why you are not sharpening the graphite pencil in the same manner that you sharpen the charcoal pencil?
You mention in the video that the graphite pencils are best to use the tip, but why is that the case? Seems like it would be nice to have the broader exposed lead to do shading with, just like you do with the charcoal pencil.

To pronounce -Staedtler- start with a -sh- like in -shut-. Then try to say -steady- but beginning with the -sh-.
Then just say -stead- beginning with the -sh-. Add the - ler- and you're good to go.

Yeah, those Staedtlers are game changers. I'll never use any other kind of graphite pencil again.
And for charcoal, those Conte 1710s are beyond smooth. Truly a pleasure to use.

I use a cheap charcoal powder. It's not that fine but I can still draw with it, I get used to it. What are the best brands of charcoal powder?
