We're back with my friend Brijette of San Diego Seed Company - she's got some huge news: a new plot of land in northern San Diego County where she'll be growing out thousands of pounds of seed for her customers. I headed up there to

Thanks so much for creating this content you have been my garden guru for the past year since I started is there a chance you could talk about bagging the tassels? I know you did a video on corn a little while ago and talked about staggering the planting however I live in Melbourne Australia and our summers can be really unpredictable and as a baby gardener Im still trying to get my head around timing my plantings. Id like to grow two varieties of corn and made a bed out the front and in the back but you guys are talking miles

Kevin - Tell her to Farm Orach (fire spinach. 4oz (for microgreens) ran me $40, they are like weed expensive.
Picked up some of her seeds last season (golden nugget tomatoes, everyone of them sprouted. I was giving away starters to friends cause i didn't have room. Easily 50 tomatoes per plant too.
As a micro green farmer who uses hundreds of seeds per tray, I'm now more l amazed I can get 25lb bags of 90% germ seed for so cheap.

Actually I have a space of 60 meters which i think at least would take 40 tomato plants and I am looking forward to make a small seed garden for unpopular and un local tomatoes varieties in Egypt that we import these varieties like the yellow tomatoes and so on and the seeds packs are expensive
So I thought that these varieties work well in egypt why I don't produce like 3 varieties of those to my local town with reasonable prices

help! I've had this tomato plant that was given to me a couple months ago, and finally it grew 5 tomatoes in a pot, I've started seeing the leaves on the lower part of the plant turn yellow and started to die I don't know if it is a deficiency in any chemicals, and I've been watering it the same as always and it is thriving-do you know what is wrong with it?

Thanks for sharing this amazing video! Several years ago, I grew Russell Hybrid Lupins, Lavatera, Calendula and Dutch Poppy solely for the purpose of starting a hobby business. I also created the seed packets for each individual product, a style I haven't seen before or since. I can appreciate the work involved. All the best and wish you success!

I love supporting small businesses however I will say the 99 cent seed statement is not correct. I purchased many different companies great success. Also dollar tree sells high mowing seeds at 25 cents a pack. I had great success all them. I realize this video to support your seed shop but the statement is not accurate.

I know traditionally purslane is viewed as a weed, but it's actually an extremely nutritious and hardy vegetable that has a similar texture to okra. If the purslane has dominated a patch in your garden, maybe consider cultivating it instead of fighting against it. It's so good for you!

The manufacture and disposal of the lithium batteries used in hybrid cars is a global ecological disaster from North America to East Asia and West Africa. The biggest lies oil companies have ever made is that hybrid cars are better for the environment, and plastic is recyclable.

Don't let their beautiful coloration and apparent docility fool you, Lady Bugs are voracious predators. They will hunt and eat aphids and their eggs, mealybugs, spider mites and even some corn worms!
Ladybugs and Mantises are the best natural method of pest control.

The discussion about 99c seed packets is pretty much late-stage capitalism: Wall Street-backed companies who deceive customers into buying worthless garbage. It's why I'm actively avoiding Amazon and eBay unless there simply is no other way to find the product.

What happens to all the food that comes after the seeds are gathered? I do understand that to gather the seeds some crops go past their peak, but maybe others do not. And how many seeds do you have to keep for yourself in order to produce more seeds?

So only one acre? That much seed can be collected on that small of space? Ive got about 8-10 acres and looking to develop it into all things growing to sell from plants to seeds to whatever. Curious to know how profitable it is to sell seeds

Thank you for showing this. I've always wondered how we get our seeds. And yes, 99 cent seeds from a well known seed seller has ended up with maybe one seed germinating out of a pack of ten. I stopped throwing my money away with them.

Its interesting to me because some seeds you can only buy once and just keep getting more and more by harvesting but it is still really profitable to sell seeds. Just some thoughts, awesome video as always! You guys are awesome!

Awesome video and cool to see someone local to Ramona! My question is how do you deal with rodents on your plots? I live on 20 acres in the same area of Ramona as Brijette and there's an insane amount of ground squirrels.
