Garlic. I plant elephant garlic. after Halloween.
Maiche. don't like it.
Beets. already planted, in containers. some torpedo shaped one.
I've been wondering about fall flowers. I am wanting a small plant flower for a small mr stacky tower.
each section is almost a quart of soil.
Thoughts?
Blueberries. not this year. budget.
cilantro. I'm one of those that only tastes soap from cilantro.
I have 2 of those augers, a big one and a little one. they go down maybe 3 and then the drill squawks.
I did cabbage starts a month ago. they did not make it.

For me, I have good luck growing garlic and I am just up the road in Orange County (zone 10b) I usually just get a bulb of garlic from Trader Joe s (for this I ll get organic just so I know it was not treated with anything, break the cloves off and usually plant those in my raised bed anywhere from mid-February to mid- March. it does take some time but I got 6-7 nice heads this year. Sometimes I will pick them prior to the skins hardening, so basically spring garlic (aka Mexican garlic. the cloves are mild and much like green (Spring) onions they can be eaten raw - Great in a salsa!

I don't know my zone here in the netherlands.
But i do have one question.
I love to plant beans, cabbage and a lot more but i have one huge pest slithering around.
Sluggs(no house) but size up to 7or 8 cm and realy eating everything i plant pepperplant to rubarb i tried: mulch, eggshell, coper, coffeegrind, beertraps etc but they keep eating.
so if you might have a tip. ?
i'd be verry happy.
i can use pellets that kills them (eco) but one rainshower and pellets are gone

We're 8b/9a here in Barstow, and we had a HUGE shallot and garlic harvest. It was our first attempt, and we did both soft- and hardneck. After tasting scapes, all of our seed garlic this season is hardneck. Seriously, BEST stir-fry I've ever had! Just got the email letting me know that Epic Gardening pre-ordered garlic is headed our way. and this time I'm pushing for a food dehydrator for our next harvest! Thank you for all you do, and I hope your next garlic harvest was as epic as ours!

Was saving my marigold seeds today, but it's been an abnormally rainy year, and a lot of the seeds attempted to germinate while they were still in the flower pods. I ended up having to get rid of more than half the seeds because of this. However, I didn't throw them out, but instead sowed them in some potting soil. Marigolds can be grown as a houseplant, which is what I'm hoping to do.

In Washington we pronounce it in-cha-lay-um. It s an indigenous word that the tribes use here and we actually have a town by the same name. The native colville tribe in the Inchelium region is where the garlic originally came from and if I remember correctly it is the oldest garlic cultivar in North America! Pretty rad!

I am in zone 8b (TX) and everybody always says how EASY it is to just sow your marigolds from seed. I have tried so many times. I ve tried every tip/trick/hack I can find in addition to following the packet directions to a tee. I have YET to grow a marigold from seed. What gives? Why won t these dumb things grow for me?

Here in Wasilla, AK (zone 4b) we got our first hard frost nearly two weeks ago and have had several others since. Most of my stuff is dead now. I pretty much only have a few lettuces, leeks, herbs and perennials left alive. I hate this time of year!

Don't forget that beet leaves are edible and are the same species as swiss chard.
In addition to head cabbage, leaf cabbage, like bok choi, is great for people who live alone and want to do a harvest as you need it style of growing.

Just harvested a Napa cabbage that, for the first time, looks exactly like the seed packet photo. Failed for many years until I only did a fall sowing in our Zone 6 southern BC garden. Congratulations on your cabbage success Kevin!

I love how you incorporate multiple climate zones in these videos. Makes me confident in the info. Especially since I'm in the warmest zone of BC; it's a bit of a cross consideration but it's covered in the same vid. Fantastic

This video came out just in time, 5 of my hot biscuit amaranth plants in my raised beds are about to be ready to be harvested so i was just thinking what i was gonna plant to replace them now i think i have an idea, thanks

Zone 7b here, planting my garlic next week with plenty of rabbit poop to help those greedy bulbs get what they need. I occasionally water with a compost/fish emulsion, really helps. Thanks again for the great video.

Would anyone know when is the best time to transplant a blueberry bush? Zone 7. It s been in the ground for about 2 growing seasons and now it isn t getting enough sun, it s very leggy limbs. Thank you

I'm so glad I can't eat garlic - it's such a pain to grow. I grow it as a companion plant here and there, and that's annoying enough xP Also, BT helps against cabbage butteflies, AND it's natural!

At the beginning of this year i think i planted carrots twice and they froze. Summer was extremely hot and dry. My pepper plants suffered, but are full of flowers now. Greetings from Texas

with the garlic, one month in the fridge, ok got it. Question have you tried to freeze it? Not completely but I'm curious instead of a month in fridge how about 8 hours in the freezer?

Woo hoo Angela! She is such a major source of knowledge in helping us grow food and flowers in the low desert. Glad to see her join your videos!

Believe it or not, it is October here.
- Video posted on September 29th.
You must have been very patient to wait a whole year to post this one!

Zone 9 - Tampa. I have softneck garlic in the fridge for the last two weeks. Going to plant in December after it has been chilled over two months.
