Hi neighbor! I am in La Mesa, Ca. I have been reading some comments regarding Dragon fruit trellis making. Some people say NOT to use pressure treated Redwood or cedar wood. Also, I see that HD sells some fence posts with a cancer etc. warning Prop. California 65 and sone other don't have the warning. I did not hear you mention anything. Isn't important since the wood will be in the soil?

I have 5 fruit. The most Ive ever grown. I have alot of plant without fruit and doubt Ill get more fruit this season. Should I trim the plant now to enhance the still growing fruit or wait till harvest? Seems like too much plant not enough fruit (my thoughts are the that less plant without fruit would help the growing fruit? .Ill make a trellis next year for sure

Don't waste your time. I recently tried dragon fruit for the first time, and I gotta say, it's nothing to rave about. It was bland, had the consistency of watermelon, but without all the juice and sweetness. I would rather have any other kind of watermelon or melons in general. Dragon fruit? You can have mine. blah

I'm confused on lumbar. You said you went with redwood for base but ceder for top and then you said somthing like you are using the same for top and bottom lumbar. So they are the same? I'd really appreciate it if you could respond because I'm going to buy lumbar for my very first trellis. Thnks!

How to make 6+ year old dragon fruits producing more fruits? I fertilize 1-2 times a year with general fertilizer.
I only got 1 fruit so far last year, with 2 beautiful flowers now? I know they take years before flowering.
Can you recommend good fertilizers to speed up?

I was never able to find the Nursery Tape Kevin references in his video - either at nursery's or on Amazon. However, I watched a video on grafting and saw someone used grafting tape, which looks like the tape Kevin used. That is the description where you will find it on Amazon.

If you are worried about the wood rotting, maybe you could do a cement footing using cardboard or pvc with a galvanized metal 'post holder' (idk what its really called, or maybe there is a safe paint or coating you could apply to an untreated fir or pine post.

I was wondering if there is any danger of the dragonfruit plant of root crowding in the terra cotta planters you use. I was planning on putting similar planters on a concrete base, is that good enough or do I need to have an earth bottom?

Your terra cotta pot has one drainage hole and it looks like you are covering it up with a 4 by 4. Am I missing something? How will it drain? I think I will make a trellis out of painted PVC. That will never rot and cheaper too.

Can you tell me how the pots are called and how are the details from the pot. How much Liter or Gallons do you have there? they look so good. Maybe our gardencenter have some of these or i can tell them to deliver them.

Thank you sir, I was given 5 of these unusual cactus plants called dragon fruit and knew nothing about them until I stumbled across you and your expert friend. Thanks for all the tips and free advice.

Where to buy those 25 gallon cylinder shape clay pot? I Remmeber you mention it is like $50 dollars. I check local home depot. They dont carry those, Any suggestion? I am located in SoCal
reply

I am ready to place the trellis into the pot prior to adding soil. Question is my pot has one drain hole directly underneath the 4X4, this will prevent proper drainage. What do you suggest?
reply

I have an idea to use PVC pipe for my trellis which should allow me to sub irrigate somewhat and water from the bottom with a small reservoir and use less pot space and weight
