Im yealous. You can plant all kind of plants and crops. While I have had 3 days of frost in a row already. Most plants wont really do well now.
Gotta wait until around end January, then I will sow the first plants in house.
Im taking all the time now to plan it all out, based on how I feel about the weather in the spring.
Cause I can already say if it will be dry, hot, cold, wet or medium. Just like I said in June that I would get early frost in early November.
But the reason I choose to start sowing in late January is cause I feel it is gonna be spring early. My tummy says the growing season (outside) will be from mid February to around mid November. While the super hot and dry sprong this year shortened it from late may to late October. No seeds germinated outside at all this year until may/June. Next year it will be way earlier. I hope that I can het some peppers and beans, at least more than this year (I had none)

When I saw you installing that municipality compost, I knew you'd have problems with compaction. I've dealt with the same, on the other side of the world. Fortunately, there are some fixes to add inexpensive additives to the compost. Like buying a large bag of bbq charcoal (not treated with fire-starter chemicals) and break it up in the bag with a mallet. The larger particles helps to fluff up the compost. Also a few bricks of coir fibre, which have been re-hydrated. Because I find the municipal compost to be hydrophobic. The coir fibre holds onto the water though. This combination is enough to improve the municipal compost, with minimal expense.

Im very disappointed in the Greenstalk company. I just purchased a Leaf for my strawberries because their website & on the materials I received said it was fine to plant strawberries in the Leaf, only to find they are no longer recommended for overwintering strawberries in the Leaf per the inventors daughter on the GreenStalk Gardeners closed FB group. I reached out to the company, and customer service said Id have to pay $25 to return it & then order an Original. Its unfair to ask the customer to pay for their marketing mistake. I was so excited for such a neat concept, but its not a good company.

Hi Kevin I'm a new follower and I also purchased your book. I live in a super bright (S-W, hardiness zone 5b-6) apartment with a large enclosed balcony. You made me wanna try growing potatoes for the first time in my life. People will think I'm crazy haha! So I bought seed potatoes that came out tiny wrinkly and with super long stems germinating already. I'm planning on planting these in 10 gallon grow bags. Should I cut those long stems off or bury them with the seed potatoes? Also how many seeds should I plant per 10 gallon bag pls. Thank you so much.

I love how well the dragon fruit plants are growing. I can't wait to see actual fruit on those bad boys.
Oh! I was wondering if you can do a video on citrus trees or orchard trees. how to take care of them and deter pests. I'm growing 2 apple trees, 2 lemon, a orange, and a few clementine trees all from seed. Do you have any tips on how to take care of them. I'm having issues with spider mites. I've tested them all with neem oil and hoping for the best.
Stay safe honey. Thanks again for the video. Sending love and hugs.

I started gardening this spring and have loved the tasty vegetables. Today I made a salad with a store bought tomato and was disappointed in the quality. I live in San Diego and was wondering if I could continue growing tomatoes outside or inside. If so, what variety would you suggest. Thank you for your outstanding videos. I'm learning so much.

Like the shed: nice paint job. I have to share my 10 x 20 ft shed with the hubby, but I have the back set up as a seedling area with some high intensity fluorescent grow lights (8 x 4 with 8 bulbs. Clearing the back yard now and prepping for my brand new backyard garden! I just moved to the Fort Worth area a few months ago (zone 8b)

Omg, I am literally dealing with my mistake of mixing a 50/50 mix of potting soil and compost and realizing my lettuce isnt thriving because its too compact! Youre amazing - how did you do that! LOL Thanks for the perlite tip - Ill try that!
P. S. LOVE the shed colors - beautiful! :)

I was wondering about the multi-sowing. You talked about the beets and multi-sowing for a bigger harvest in a small space which makes sense. My question, why don't you do the same with for example the lettuce which you showed us? Why can you multi-sow some plants but not others?

G'day Everyone! Update on the Dad Joke Competition - I'm still working on the 1000+ entries. Purchased a paper trimmer because my hand was cramping up using a scissors to separate the entries for the draw. Hoping to have it done soon. Thanks for your patience!

Hey, Kevin, I have learned so much from you! And I've been checking out your citrus video because I have a calamansa seedling. I also have a small pandan tree and I'm having trouble finding a good video or article about it. Do you have suggestions?
reply

Kevin, why don't you separate the plants like the kale when you planted? Why do you plant all three? Why not separate it out prior to putting it in, knowing that you will need to thin it out anyway? Watching you cut away the lettuce was hard!

Hi Kevin, thank you so much for putting out your great videos. I really enjoy your Garden With Me episodes which give me much inspiration, here in London, to engage as a new gardener with growing my own food and herbs for the first time.

We love watching your vids and pretty much take your word as gospel. The GreenStalk planters are not cheap at all. But we are gearing up for this year and pulled the trigger. Do you have a coupon code? Thanks for the great work!

Y'all! Dollar tree has stackable planters and I don't know how quality they are, but if you want to try stackable planters (and are on a budget) then I'd look in your local dollar tree and they're available on the website too!
