How to Install a Drip System in Raised Beds Garden Answer Kate: I just bought many of the parts to do this. Timer, brown 1/2 tubing, elbow connector, adapter with screw end to close off the tubing, 1/4 black tubing and 10-pc. barbed Ts and spikes with drip emitters. That was about $74. I'll check out other garden centers (Home Depot was missing the pressure regulator, backflow adapter and loop closure) for the parts shown in last year's video when you irrigated your mom's gardens. I stopped at one garden center to investigate plants for pots, but I'm nervous it's still too soon here in Minneapolis, MN to plant containers. Here's to healthier containers this year.
One question, for winter, does the tubing need to be drained and stored away? I'd like to keep them in place once I run them all over my yard.

Super helpful, thank you! Do you have recommendations for how to run drip lines over to beds across a driveway in an aesthetically pleasing way? Our water line is on the left side of the driveway, and the beds are on the right side. so to get drip irrigation over to the beds I have a driveway to cross. There is a fence that crosses the driveway, so perhaps I could attach the hose to that to cross? Any advice you have from experience with water sources that are far away from the plants is appreciated! LOVE your videos. I'm new to gardening and I've been binge watching your videos. :-) Thanks for all that you do.

Literally went out and bought everything 15 minutes after this video! Thank you for breaking it down and explaining it so well! I went from feeling intimidated by irrigation/drip to feeling confident that I could do it! I live in a similar climate zone as you with harsh winters, do you leave them where they are all winter (not in use, obviously? If so, is there any special winterizing involved so they don't freeze & crack? Thanks!

Very informative. I need to do a lot of this. I am on a hillside and have terraces with rock retaining walls, which just makes everything much more complicated. First, next year, i hope to get water run out to all the areas. I have been using about 800 total feet of hose which is difficult. This video is very helpful, but i would like one in even more depth addressing things like rock walls, please.

Cool. I've already bought my setup. I will for sure be using a pressure reducer, last year I got a bulge in my chicken watering hose from too much pressure! I bought the 4 zone timer. I got the slightly older model, so it doesn't have the WiFi option but it has a moisture sensor port so I got one of those too. I'm using the 1/2 inch soaker hose. I'll see how that works.

Do you use your well to water or do you use irrigation water? We have pressurized irrigation over here in Nampa, with only overhead sprinklers, and we have the problem of algae and other gunk clogging our sprinkler filter and even the sprinkler heads. How does that work with the tiny drippers? We are on city water so we definitely don't want to use that for our garden.

I started setting mine up this last week! It does take time to install and is pretty hard on my hands, but will be so worth it! Wish I could use soaker hoses, my hard water makes it impossible. I am in an arid zone 5 Colorado and my beds can dry out incredibly fast in the summer, so Im really looking forward to using it. I spend so much time watering and I want my time back!

I was watching one of your old videos, and remember the daffodils you just barely included in your blooming tour that you werent sure what they were. thought they were peach cobbler but the coloring was a little wrong? I think they might be the Golden Pearl you planted last fall. Im trying to up my bulb game so I was paying really careful attention. Maybe? Anyway, cheers!

what do i do when the height of the water faucet is so low that when i add all parts i have to dig a trench. i removed the pressure part but would like a better solution. btw tip for anyone trying this, the tubing manipulates easier in the warm so i use warm water on end before attaching emitters etc, cold for cutting tubing(or cut early am. I love my drip depot system.

Thanks Laura! I'm in Israel and its so dry here- only rains in the winter. I have an automated drip system in my garden but I need to replace a piece because my son thought there was a tree not getting enough water and decided to make the hole bigger! Now its spraying everywhere when it comes on! So this is helpful information and easy enough to fix on my own.
