We all need to have a well stocked book shelf. because if the internet was disrupted wed be wondering how to do everything! What is the name of the amaryllis by your left shoulder. so dreamy!
I bought some clearance bulbs at walmart. because I cannot afford to spend a lot on just one bulb. and ive been so pleased at how resiliant some of these bulbs have been. Big thick stalks and suprised at which ones i end up loving the most. because the pics dont do them justice. I love them all but my biggest wows are the Tinkerbell. three stalks each give an amazing show of such beauty. and the Marquise. big double beautiful flowers but the lack of stems and flowers in quantity are made up for by the huge full double blooms. im just having the best time discovering new developments daily and is the gift that has just kept giving. I have many more blooms and types to wait to open every day.

Cannot say enough great things about your videos. Amy Stewart of Flower Confidential, has several other books and one of them, The Drunken Botanist, is also an audiobook. I listened to it last springtime while driving around admiring all the blooming trees. Your amaryllis look amazing and I was curious about the blue curvy top/lettuce edge vase. My now adult children were voracious readers and we called Barnes & Noble the cookie library! It always smelled like cookies and coffee. Yum. Thus it became a pricey pastime but well worth it. I recently found a book at a used bookstore/coffee shop (Grounds for Thought) The Library by Sarah Stewart. Anyone who loves to read would love this short (15 pages) story that is adorably illustrated by David Small. Happy Gardening from Ohio!

Danielle, I bought Cool Flowers after you had mentioned it in another video and find it to be a great resource. So glad I bought it. However, it has been your videos that sparked a fire in me to finally create the cutting garden that I-ve wanted for many years. Your videos helped me understand what I need to do to succeed, and your flowers-. simply gorgeous. I am also in Lancaster County, so it-s super easy to follow along. I check every day to see when you might be starting seeds or what you-re doing in the garden. Thank you!

Thank you for all the book titles, Danielle. I bought Cool Flowers because of your recommendation on a different video, and I agree that every gardener should own that book. It is full of information that many or most of us probably never knew, and it is written in a straightforward, interesting way. It has definitely changed the way I will garden from now on. I plan to check some of the other books you recommended today as well. Thanks again.

No one ever offered me money to read books. If they had, I would be rich. I do think you should get a commission for the number of -Cool Flowers- bought on your recommendation, including my copy. it is an epic discovery. As for the other titles, they are my own Book of the Month Club since I will buy one every month. Thank you for your wise counsel! You are a treasure!

Hi Danielle. I bought Chris McLaughlin book called Growing Heirloom Flowers-Bring the Vintage Beauty of Heritage Blooms To the Modern Garden. I enjoy this book every time I refer to it. Her cover is absolutely beautiful and textural. She also describes the history of flowers as well as growing them with tips. She also has a sense of humour that is entertaining.

Hi Danielle, thank you for another wonderful video. I absolutely feel your love of gardening which thoroughly supports my own passion for all things floriculture. I admire your honor and appreciation for your grandparents. I admire people who esteem others that have made great contributions to their lives. A sense of gratitude is a wonderful thing.

What a great video! I haven't bought any new gardening books in awhile, but I think I might have to now lol. One book that I do rely on quite often is an older one by Barbara Damrosch - The Garden Primer. For inspiration, I always go back to Martha Stewart's Gardening Month by Month and Rosemary Verey's Good Planting Plans.

Such a beautiful collection Danielle! I'm sitting here in our snowstorm/blizzard in Massachusetts. I'm planning my first cutting garden for this Spring. I've grown dahlias and zinnias but never for cutting. For some reason I have such reservations about cutting flowers out of my garden. Thanks for sharing!

As always, great recommendations and will be adding some to my library. I loved Sarah Raven's book and Flower Confidential has been on my wish list for a while. I've been hunting for floral frogs in antique and thrift stores. and have found a few, so Color Me Floral is a must have! Thank you Danielle!

Thank you so much for your videos, Danielle! I'm learning so much from you as I'm just starting my own journey into growing a cut flower garden (also in PA, zone 6b. I'm a former librarian, so I always appreciate fellow book lovers and I can't wait to check for these ones! You're the best!

Thank you for sharing! My must have book is -the well-tended perennial garden-. It is largely a reference book, but it is the one book I have found that focuses on maintenance. I really need a book like that for annuals (and biennials, being rather new to growing them

Based on your previous recommendations I bought 2 books, Cool Flowers and Floret's Cut Flower Garden. I have found both extremely helpful. Now, I will have to head to my local book store and pick up another. Thank you for always sharing your experiences with us. --

It looks like the books you have chosen are more about design. I like to read about plant hunting and gardeners of long ago. I have most of the books written by Frank Kingdon Ward & a lovely book based on a journal of Lady Mayo. These are not the only ones though.

Thank you, Danielle for this list. I went straight to Amazon and bought The Posy Book and Everlastings. I even still had a gift certificate credit from Christmas so double bonus! Thank you for all you do. You make these cold winter months a little brighter!

One of my favorite flower books which is rarely mentioned by others is -Garden to Vase- by Beutler and Mandell. I also love -Cool Flowers-. Lisa Mason Ziegler shares great advice for free -- she truly inspires me as you do.

Oh my goodness, you got me when you spoke of your grandparents and how they inspired you. I am a grandma to five, so your story of them was really special. Is your garden named after your grandma's?
