Thank you for all of your inspirational videos I am so happy to know of someone else whom has discovered this great idea! After losing most of my pot plants to root mealybugs this summer, ( I live in subtropical Australia) because of the flooding rains that we have been experiencing, I tried to save what was left of my new potted plants that I had just bought, by taking 'micro' cuttings of any viable stems not infected with humidity loving pests. I saved quite a few including some snapdragons, double petunias, pansies Virginia stock and quite a few others. It brought me so much joy, just to see these little survivors grow. I have no right to complain over my garden woes when so many other flood victims lost everything, including their lives.

Hi Danielle! I am watching this a bit after you made this video and I am so delighted to know you can propagate snaps in this way. I will definitely give this a try with the seedlings which are coming on now. I am also tickled that some of the snaps I left in the ground over winter are starting to grow once again. Amazing. since I live in zone 5b. I am never cease to be amazed with God's creation in the floral world. I would love it if you shared more propagating tips. Thank you! Janie

Thank you for this information, I did it and now have 9 extra plants! I rooted my cuttings in water, on the windowsill, and they grew nice roots. Also, I noticed that some of my snaps have a purple tone to the underside of the leaf, does this mean anything? Will this method also work on the tip that is cut from a dahlia? Thank you again, I really enjoy your videos, they are informative and down to earth. pardon the pun!

Do you start all your seeds in potting soil? So many people say that seeds need to be started in seed starting mix, but if that-s not really necessary, I-d prefer to save the money and use regular potting soil. Thank you.

I actually pinched off my snapdragons this morning. I was disappointed my bronze ones didn't germinate very well. I tossed the trimmings in the trash. Then saw your video at lunch. Garbage-picked the cuttings and put them in water til I could get the rooting hormone. Not sure if I got them in time but I appreciate the information and I'll definitely be ready for next time. Thanks!

I double and triple most of my flowering plants every year by using this propagation method. But for some reason, I've never ever thought of rooting snapdragon cuttings. Thank you for sharing this!
The cost of specialty seeds and plants has really increased over the years and they continue to do so every year, so this is an easy way to cut costs for the average home gardener!

Love your videos, u are so gifted when it comes to growing flowers.
I am adding flowers to the farm this year, we are in zone 7b, SE Oklahoma. Its very humid and hot in mid summer.
Was advised to plant Statice as part of my spread. What is your opinion on this?

I had great success doing this with mums when cutting back in spring - July 1. I just cut and stuck in big flower pot and placed in shade. Had almost 100 percent germination. I did this with snaps in fall and have two nice plants that I kept alive in my basement all winter. zone 7

I did this with my coleus. I misted them for about a week before I felt that they seemed stable (not limp/wilted looking. Do you do the same or are you just leaving them as is and watering per usual or more often than normal? I did not use rooting hormone for the coleus.

I love snapdragons.
An i live in ontario an i think would probably kill them.
So i decided to bring 1 in.
And i kept it alive over winter. But now its falling over.
Oh its an appleblosme.
My question is. Can i cut it back an have it bloom.

This was so useful thank you! Snap seeds are so expensive and Especially if you buy a mix you only know the colours after a few leaves have grown through (judging by the underside) so this would allow you to select for colour! Would this work on stocks too?

I just propagated my snapdragons and the pinches are all wilting. I used the rooting hormone as well. I turned off my fan and have started misting them. Is there anything else I can do to help them survive or is wilting normal?

Love this! I didnt know You could propagate snapdragons like this! Keep nerdy videos comming! My snaps are only tiny, yet, my last frost date is end of may, but I will certainly try this as soon as my snaps beef up in size

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but should you pinch back the new plant (and then maybe propagate that cutting? Thanks for the video. Snap seeds are so expensive and they're also kind of ridiculously teeny tiny.

I have never heard about this. I will try it. Problem is that my snapdragons are one month and are very very small. I have 24 watt LED lights. Not sure how close to have them from the lights.

If some of my seedlings only have 4 sets of leaves, would I just skip trimming out a set of leaves before dipping in root hormone? Or should I just wait a little longer before i pinch?
